If the folder is on the IMAP server, Opera should see it. But, maybe you're not subscribed to it for some reason. Check "Menu -> mail -> imap folders" and subscribe to it. Or, if you have to, create the folder yourself.
Once you're subscribe to it, on the IMAP tab in the account's properties, you can set it as the sent folder.

We've got a bug report on this, DSK-350403. There's a small problem with their IMAP server, we'll work on getting this solved somehow.

No. I don't have yandex. My suggestion was generic for any IMAP server (which doesn't have bugs).

У меня та же проблема. Нет папки отправленные. Яндекс говорит проблема оперы.
I have this bug too. Don't have sent folder . Support of yandex say what this problem opera mail.
I'm try use different versions of opera, but this folder don't have.
In other mail clients all working and this folder have.
Early all worked and i don't use web client yandex like now.

Yandex support is wrong, though it is a technicality in the IMAP spec in this case. If you create a mail log, you can see a line like this:
There should be only one space between "\HasNoChildren" and "\Sent" according to the IMAP spec. But it seems like other mail clients are more forgiving, so we might create a workaround for such cases
