mail.opera.com compliments and constructive comments

To the developers of the new mail.opera.com webmail, your interface is brilliant, clean, and beautiful. I've beta-tested a lot of webmail/email programs in the past (including worked on a few open source ones) and this one beats them all, even in its beta stage. Well done!

I have a few bugs I've discovered in my use of the system that I thought I'd report to see if a) others have had these problems and b) to share for improvement of the beta interface.

1- In the mobile version of the webmail, a copy of sent email does not get put into the Sent Items folder about 70% of the time. It has a slightly better success rate if you make sure the message has been saved as a draft...but still not perfect.

2- The regular webmail interface hangs when sending email if the default account is set to anything other than the default myopera.com email address.

3- The addition of some email accounts in the Account menu under Settings does not work for some email addresses...perhaps you could add an option to manually input server info?

4- I'm concerned about having the ability to add other accounts and the mail sent through that identity not get sent through that identity's smtp servers. This may cause some sort of spf blocking in the long-term from your smtp servers...perhaps adding the ability to send mail through the smtp server information that the accounts dialogue already collects is a good idea?

Thanks for a GREAT product! I'm very impressed thus far...the simplicity and yet complete functionality of the webmail product is to be applauded!

Hi smile Thanks for the report!

1. I've managed to reproduce this here, but only once in 30 attempts! We're on to it though smile

2. Does this happen on all of your secondary accounts, or just one/some in particular? I can't reproduce this myself, but perhaps we can have a chat via PM to get to the bottom of it.

3. What is the error message you see when this occurs? Which service are you trying to add? If it's a service we don't recognise, you should always be prompted to input the server information manually. Double check that the password you enter for the account is correct, and that you have POP enabled on the remote service.

4. We'll look in to that!

Problem 1 and 2 should be fixed now. Can you give it another go and tell me if that works now? Thanks!

Number 4 is fixed now too smile Mail should be sent through your nominated SMTP server.

Do you happen to have an answer to my questions regarding problem 3? Then we can make it a home run smile

Thanks! This is pretty awesome. I sent you a PM a couple of days ago with the details, but I'm not sure it went through. I have a screenshot if you'd like to see it...

Basically, I put in my email address and password and it plugs away for a few seconds and says "Fetching Account Settings..." and then "Verifying Account Details..." and then it says "Hmm, that didn't work. Double check that your email and password are correct." With no option to add server details manually...

Bravo on these changes!

I've just run into two more instances of the mobile version of the email not saving sent messages... Not that big of a deal, but just wanted it to be known for bug-solving purposes.

I should add that occasionally when I click on the contacts button in mail.opera.com on my desktop, it takes me to the mobile version and then I have to reload the page to get back to the desktop version of mail and contacts. It seems random thus far...

in mobile version, can you add the feature 'file attachment' allowing to attach files in emails to be sent.
and also the feature allowing to download all attachments in mobile version.
anyway, even in bete version, it is far better and easier to use! smile

Cloud03: Thanks for the feedback. I've added your request internally.
grape: at the moment we only support avatars from gravatar.com - so head on over there and upload the image you would like to display.
