Why Google Docs?

I try to avoid Google at all costs. I was content when I "ungooglefied" my browser by removing Google search and Google shortcuts and replaced them with Startpage and DuckDuckGo. Privacy obtained.
Then suddenly with the newest version (11.52), Opera automatically opens documents (ppt, pdf, etc.) in Google Docs automatically...WITHOUT ASKING ME! I've scoured settings to try to find where to turn this feature off, but no such setting exists.
How do I turn this off? If no one know, then I guess this is a good excuse to develop an extension. smile
Just as an aside: why does Opera like Google so much? Opera is such a powerful browser for privacy, yet it default to Google.

It is nearly impossible to escape googles hold on the internet.
Google analytics is used by so many sites and even though you may not be logged into google as such.
It will still amongst other things record and track your movements.

Opera doesn't open documents (ppt, pdf, etc.) in Google Docs automatically. Something got messed up on your end.
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.
It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

Wait. Something doesn't sound right. First, in order to "open in Google Docs" doesn't that mean you have to have a Google Docs account? How is it logging in with your Username and Password??? (Even so you could change you password)

Still, this actually sounds awesome. Are you saying any .ppt, .doc, .pdf from ANY site opens in Google Docs? That would be AWESOME for my Opera install on USB stick. I wouldn't have to use any pluggins and could access any documents easily.

Hello, I am sure you must have installed any of the following extensions-

https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/swiss-knife/
https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/google-docs-viewer/
https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/documents-preview/

All of these extensions open Google Docs-compatible files directly in Google Docs.

Okay, I did another round of elimination, and I found that th extension (oddly enough) was Redirect to HTTPS. I guess if the extension sees that it can't redirect a document to HTPPS on the file's server, then it automatically opens it in Google.
