Account Name not changing

Hi All,

When I right-click on an account in the left panel and select "Properties" I cannot change the Account name permanently. If I make a change it is reflected in the left panel, but only for the current session. The next time I start OM, it is back to the original name.

Is it something I am doing or a bug?

Same happens if I use the main menu and select "Edit" in the "Mail and chat accounts" dialog.

I can confirm this. The account's name changes and sticks through a restart (as seen by going back into its properties). But, the name in the access point header reverts just as you're seeing.

Seems to be a bug to me. Opera insists on using the email address for the account it seems.

Thanks BurnOut, but not quite so. I have no idea how it happened, but the account in question shows a Text name I assigned at some time during this frustration.

When I created the account I did not set the name to my Text and it used the email address.
Now, I don't know if I went back in and changed the Text name in that same session or a later session, but at some point I did and that name stuck through restarts and is still visible. Albeit with a spelling error.
However, if I open the Properties, change the name to correct the spelling error, it stays corrected in the Properties but not on the account bar.

Here's the process...
Account bar first time through where I forgot to set a Text name for the account
sales@myaccount.com

Using Properties I change that to (yes, I AM Dyslexic, smile )
Saels

Next time I run Opera I notice the misspelling and use Properties again
Sales
In that session the account bar changes to
Sales

Next time I run Opera the account bar shows
Saels
...but Properties shows the corrected name
Sales

I just logged into report that I have solved the problem with a little brute force.

I used Config.Opera to get the Mail Folders and then did a Text search for "sales" and then "saels"

It returned two files, Index.ini and Accounts.ini

Within Accounts.ini the account name was "Sales"
Within Index.ini the account name was "saels"

I changed the Index.ini line to read "Sales" and bingo, my Account bar for Sales is still showing correctly after many restarts.

Somewhere Index.ini is not being updated after an Edit to the Properties section. Definitely a bug.
