Gmail web interface too slow

Hello,

I tried Gmail's web interface in Opera 11.60 beta Build 1173, and when using the HTML rich-text compose message, Opera takes a second before each response to action (e.g. adding bold, underline, color, font size, etc...). Also, adding smileys is very slow (especially compared to Chrome). Maybe a matter of code compilation or optimization? Here's my version of Opera:
Version 11.60 beta
Build 1173
Platform Linux
System i686, 3.0.0-13-generic
