Latest java v6.5.0 still freezes on loading screen on samsung mobile
I downloaded the latest opera mini today, and as usual it worked great for 20 mins. After using it a few times it eventually starts to hang on its start up screen. The loading bar hangs indefinitely near the end. It could just be incompatible with my Samsung Monte,or be crashing due to not having enough memory, but when i use the browser i never have anything else running, and when it works, it works great. If the browser freezes on startup, i lose all my bookmarks, as i have to reinstall mini for it to work again. If the browser has crashed in the past, the likelihood of a reinstalled version eventually not being able to boot up fully and hanging on the load up bar screen again is high. I don't have as many crashes with opera mini 4.3, but every other version eventually starts freezing on its load up screen. Could the problem be a memory issue? All crashing i am talking about is this freeze on the start up bar. The program won't load up fully. Its the only problem i have,as I have never had any version of mini crash during browsing on any phone. I hope this info is useful-perhaps its just an unfixed start up error, but it has been happening for at least a couple of yrs nowTry reinstalling the browser by deleting it from The phone and reinstalling it from http://mini.opera.com

In my case, deleting all bookmarks from OM has completely resolved freeze-up issue. Now I keep bookmark links in a separate app on my BlackBerry. Even as few as 50 bookmarks would cause OM to freeze after each startup.

The reason that could cause the freeze up is the browser starting the syncing process. In fact the browser tend to freeze as the it tries to sync with Opera via Opera Link. Try turning off Opera Link and re-test?

I've tried to reinstall after the mini startup hang preventing the program and its menus being accessible, but the latest java opera mini still doesn't work. Once the hang occurs you can't get rid of it. Its bookmarks are not separate to the program itself on my phone in order to remove them, as far as i know. Im not sure about opera link-i don't see that option. i can't start up,mini just hangs on its initial boot up screen with loading bar. it worked ok initially, but after the hang occurs no further installations will work. they all hang thereafter, apart from the earlier v4. as the hanging one ran full speed when it did run in the beginning with no problems,im not sure what file could be to blame
perhaps i would have to connect my phones memory card to a pc,if there were any hidden opera mini files interrupting its startup, but even if i could delete that, the program would likely recreate it again and make the program hang in future.
thanks for the replies though

Try deleting the program and then restarting the phone before reinstalling. To access Opera link, go to menu using #8 or through the toolbar.

I started using v4 after v6 started crashing. I've just noticed the link option on the v4 menu, ive always had it set to default (off). if its available on 6.5 then I've likely never had it selected there either if off is by default there as well. i should also mention that I've never synchronized my computer browser with any opera mini. if v4 has no problems running/starting up then i don't know what else it could be-perhaps its a samsung issue? thanks.
