Google's new graph function

If you place an equation in google's search input box, you now get a graph at the top of the results page. You can try it with something simple like y=x^2.

It works in IE and Chrome, but unfortunately not in Opera (11.61/1181).

No, that's merely a listing of image hits. The graphing function is real and in real time. See this Chrome take:

Ah OK.

I only get that in IE and Firefox.
SRWare Iron just show the same as Opera which is strange as that is the same as Chrome.

It works in Opera if you mask as Firefox though.

That's interesting. Does this mean google is poisoning the code?

I also noticed today that Google Instant (search results as you type) stopped working, with a notification to that effect. Reading further, Opera is not supported. That hasn't stopped it from working in Opera for months now, until today.

It works perfectly when you set in site preferences "Masquarade as Firefox". Google is thus, as usual, intentionally discriminating against Opera users.

I really want to move away from Google's services, because of constant browser discrimination... and google becoming generally Evil otherwise as well. But where to?

You're correct. Very good observation. I can't think of any valid reason for this behavior.
