Nigerians Can Break Into The Most Secured Security System

Call it talent, genius, evil or whatever;but Nigerians, have for ages, proven to the greatest technologist, security expert, the weakness behind anything they've made. From breaking through the most complex airport security system,to websites with unimagined firewall system,to the most secured software system. Just mention it. Nigerians have got this notion that technologgy should be free for all. For network providers in the country, their systems have been hacked to the point that youngsters make free calls, browse for free send free messages and even deceive the network systems to extort call credits, promo gifts, browsing megabytes and lots more. Nigerians have launched websites dedicated to sharing tweaks meant to crack anything secured. Don't be suprised if a Nigerian breaks into the white house undetected

Sure, sure. Assuming all that as a given, what does believing technology should be free and 1337 h4ckz0r sk1llz have to do with breaking into the White House? Should I also expect a Nigerian to break into my reddish house undetected?

Ego runs wild there. Hack a few low budget cellular providers and suddenly you're a Chinese cyberwarrior capable of anything. rolleyes

Next time you're complaining of dropped calls or poor service consider it's due to the criminals stealing network access. The revenue generated could of went to upgrading service and infrastructure. Instead you think it's clever to steal from a sub-par telecommunications industry, have fun with that.

Put it another way...

There's this bank with your money in it. You wanna be able to know your money is there safe and get it when you want, right? Okay, say someone come up with a way to access your account whenever they want and take your money in such a way they can do it whenever they want undetected so they don't even have to take it all at once, just when they want some. Now say you went to get some money and it was unavalible because someone else was accessing your account at the moment. You'd be mad right? When you ask for some action to be taken they tell you, "So many people are doing it their security can't catch up and besides it's kinda clever so what's the harm? Even people who don't do it think money should be for everyone and we can't afford to safe guard what you pay the bank to do so we just try and get as many accounts as possible hoping some will actually pay."

In this hypothetical situation where data is money, where is the line? Isn't condoning it bad too? Is adding account after account offering a service you can't provide bad?

Data provided by a carrier is worth something because it takes infrastructure to provide it and paying customers are told there is bandwidth for the data they pay for... but not told so many people are just stealing it they can't really provide the service or hope to stop it. If you believe data should be free then take action to have the government provide it like civilized folk, now that would be clever. Otherwise taking and enabling it is criminal and not anything to be proud of, IMO.

Some people prefer viewing things with their ears. The post was meant to draw a reader's attention to that black african country. With no IT knowledge and little formal education, they are still able to go Pro with technological gadgets. The question is,can't that level of affinity and efficiency in a techno-age fetch them legitimate employment? Is the government blind to the presence of these active cells inclined to telling the geeks they have not done enough in concealing the secrets behind their most complex inventions. For pete's sake, the bigwigs need to sell their attention to these group and stop selling lies and frail promises.

As for the network providers, they are not any better than the hackers(or criminals). Their services are damn poor, they give no shit about customers, the cost of their poor services adds to a customer's frustration. These guys can impose their choice on you and sometimes illegitimately "helps" you in subscribing to expensive, but fruitless, services. They deserve anything "naija ninjas" give them. Be that as it may, the opening post sounds like a bunch of script kiddies "pwn3rz n00bz!!111111!!" (owning to weak security by some sub-par organization.) Why not find some technological achievements by Nigeria that can match or exceed something the US, the EU, Japan or S. Korea can do? Let's face it, most people have only heard if Nigeria 411 scams and not technological achievements from the country. Perhaps it's time to point achievements from Nigeria that were picked up on countries generally considered more advanced instead of your ability to run a brute force attack to get passwords or set up some kind DDoS attack (which is trivial).

You have done nothing but depict your countrymen as a bunch of criminals. The only employment I can think of to give to career criminals is converting large rocks into smaller rocks. For a long time.

Sorry, but around my neck of the woods we already have a surplus of career criminals, don't need any more.

I think what he's trying to say is that the energy used for those criminal activities could be used for something more productive. He's using very poor examples.

I wonder if those kids making free calls and using free data on the telcos in Nigeria are helping to overload the country's limited capacity. Personally, I'd be pissed if I was a legitimate customer experiencing poor network performance and kids were stealing bandwidth.

wizard You're contributing to the strength of your economy by using good ethics. Paying for the services you receive gives the company revenues to grow, producing jobs for these would-be engineers, network techs, and programmers. Also the quality of service would increase as a result too.

I am wondering if they have full internet service or are they're limited on where they can connect?

Anyway you look at it seems the government should be a little more involved. I live in a country that could afford to but thinks war is more important than any real healthcare so I know internet will never be free here. To have a country step up and say people should have a right to information would indeed be an awesome idea. Nigerians CAN achieve great things and that would be a proud step in the right direction. But your methodology is a little messed up. Good ethics help grow the economy and educational levels. And will improve your quality of living way more than however much your data use is a month extra in your pocket ever will. Making Nigeria not only an African power but perhaps a global player.

But hey, I'm also an idealist at heart. You can also steal your economy into shambles and live in a third world country, if ya want. That's what we're trying to do here.

Edit: damn autocorrect

For now many do seem to be awful proud of running scams and stealing. For such a religious country you'd expect better. I guess morals really only come from religion after you've learned ethics in school... that's for another topic tho. pirate

So far, all you have done is to champion criminal activity and make it appear as if all Nigerians are criminals. If we take you at your word, the proper response is to build a wall around Nigeria, complete with guard towers and dogs running in a no-man's land between fences. John at least tries to present us with a Nigerian who isn't a career criminal.

Just about the only positive thing I can come up with in regard to these 1337 h4xx0rz is something like "at least they're not destroying anything." Don't forget about those letters from "General Megonnascamu", telling you he needs your help spiriting several million dollars out of the country, you'll get a percentage and all he needs is your bank account information to get started. That takes a certain genius, doesn't it?

You know, the idea about the wall around the country, with guard towers and dogs running between the fences is beginning to look better and better. Keloda might want to re-consider promoting thuggery before everybody else starts taking up a collection to pay for the wall.

Where is that environment to put genius to test? The software companies? Technological workshops? Or well-equipped schools? Funny enough no service provider has come out in the open to say they have lost money to cheats or free call frauds ie this cheats are insignificant afterall. look around you we are lights years behind china and west when it comes to tech. Our attitudes and values should be progressive not regressive. Try watching CCTV at times and see how much china has developed in the last 10years. Next time when you want to talk about Nigeria talk about something important like 'fuel subsidy removal' or 'what our future would look like in relation to the current non-chalant attitude of our youth towards developmental or innovative thinking.' does it not scare you that 90 percent of what we consume here are imported and not produced here, even food! God damn it! You think i know nothing about Nigeria? You must be joking. I think and have intellectual discussions about Nigeria and i fear for our future. I love this country more than than you can imagine and my heart breaks when i see our youths celebrating regressive notions.

Maybe John is edgy because he wants people to think Nigerians are something other than small-time crooks. There's people who actually try to improve their society there-- imagine that.

I know where John's coming from on that. I live near Chicago, and believe me it gets old when all anybody thinks about is Al Capone and corrupt politics when they hear about the place.

your point being that the Nigerian government should recruit phone cheaters to government to help government save their phone/mobile internet bills via cheating mobile service providers...how progressive your thoughts are. faint your problem is that you see genius where there is none. A bit of exposure would help you.
P.S let me make this clear there is norhing fascinating about manipulating ip adresses on a mobile phone to allow backdoor access to the net, any kid with a mobile phone can do it, just a matter of having the right codes from an inside man in the mobile company. So stop kidding yourself.

Some guy thinks that because he can hot-wire a car he's an expert on automobiles and should be given an executive position in a car company. That's about what we're talking about here. A small-time wanna-be thug thinks he wants to be considered among the best of the best in the world's IT structures. Sorry, Keloda, but I think all the script-kiddie positions are already filled.

Nah, John is just one of the many-- we are legion-- who are tired of common street thugs boasting like they're really something when they're not. You go to an Internet Cafe, steal some stuff from IT suppliers and write 419 scam letters and you think you're the sharpest tack in the box. Nope, not even close.

Edit; add-on: Personally, I got a little tired of reading stories on this side of the pond where hacker/crackers broke laws, pilfered stuff from secure systems and so on, and then later got jobs as white-hat computer security consultants. These guys were crooks--- and deserved to be treated the way we treat crooks when they get caught. No white-hat job for you, matey!!! You see that pile of big rocks over there? Well, here's a nine-pound hammer. Start converting those large rocks into smaller rocks. You've only got, oh, thirty years or so to do it so I suggest you get busy.

There's an important difference between hackers and crackers. Hackers find holes and notify the administrators; crackers (ab)use them. The first is illegal in the same sense that looking at child porn online is illegal (depending on your jurisdiction), but some people do just that in order to find and report sites that host such trash. I realize you explicitly said "pilfered stuff from secure systems," but I know someone who gets paid to do just that and they certainly didn't do any such thing.

Only 9GB? I probably use that much only in YouTube. (I don't mean I watch it for hours and hours; I just tend to pick 720p if available.)

Sadly my monthly usage counter just reset, so I couldn't say what I used last month. Today, however, 1.2GB was already used and I wasn't even home most of the day (i.e. most of that must've been by my wife who was home most of the day).

total traffic downloaded in broadband: 1.16 gb
(traffic downloaded between 01.00 and 13.00 is only counted for 50%)
remaining in broadband: 58.84 gb
next counter reset : 21/01/2012 (days remaining: 31)

broadband graphical overview:

actual traffic info: over the past accountingperiod counted traffic is 1.16 gb. this number does not reflect mediumbandtraffic and actual happyhours traffic. it also does not show the 10% atm-overhead on the actual transfer of your line nor the 0 gb uploadtraffic. therefor the real traffic that was transferred was 1.6 gb. (this data is provided for informational purposes only)

Note that the penalty for going over it merely means getting my connection downsized to 2Mbit or so. That's one major reason for choosing this provider over one that does something ludicrous like charging money like crazy.

60GB (download only; unlimited upload) usually suffices, but using decent quality video & audio combined with not having any interest in "regular" TV and radio has made us go over now and then.

It might be OK for using Opera Mini to go online check directions to a destination or movie/bus schedules or something, but if they offered that for my regular ISP, I'd have to laugh in their face.

You must watch more than we do, or higher quality/worse compression. p But like I said, it's not 60GB in a manner that it matters much. I'd pay the same money if they advertised it as 6Mbit unlimited download/upload as opposed to a theoretical maximum speed of 24Mbit with 60GB download volume/unlimited upload, where exceeding 60GB means a drop to 6Mbit — and don't forget traffic from 1AM to 1PM only counts half, so in practice we tend to hit at least 80GB before this happens. In any case I usually don't even notice whether it happens or not.

problem is you're trying to impress the people here, like make them feel 'hey here is a smart kid from Nigeria' but at the end of the day the reverse seems to be the case. My advice to you paddy is simple be true to who you are. Yep, and it's still nothing to brag about. Any bozo can break a shop window and run off with something, that doesn't take much in the way of brains. Coming up with a way to make oneself useful-- now, that can be a wee bit harder.

My ex-wife's son is in state prison right now. He thought he was something else being a member of a street gang. All it ever got him was trouble, and now he's in for assaulting an officer of the law. How that came about is a story in itself, and showed he was lacking in the "being a bright person" department.

I was surfing the net when i also came across this. Kids with just mobile phones,a couple of codes "from India" who manipulated the ip address of the federal government "telecommunication gadget",just to cheat them of free browsings and free calls. Just like John,i was content the "government" took no notice of their petty nibblings. Just a petty site that had nothing doing.

Mind you,Nigeria got no hackers, there is no touch of genius. Just a couple of ip manipulating kids

What do you mean he "just slipped"? He did the same thing at least twice. I'm not saying it's particularly impressive or anything, considering I almost got onto a flight to Detroit instead of to Chicago because the silly people at MSP decided to flip the two adjacent gates just around boarding time, and besides, we're talking about petty crime once more, but it counts as beating airport security to get on a flight.

So the "hacker" is little more than a pickpocket.

On that pass was the name of a man with the initials M.D. After tracking down and interviewing him, the FBI learned that M.D. had lost his home-printed boarding pass from his back pocket, which had been folded into fourths, once he arrived at JFK via subway Friday

Some of us do actually have PCs. The article basically says what I did. You have to create jobs for them and if you are not paying for services that you receive from a company that can provide these jobs then you are helping cause the problem you're complaining about. I'm sure there are other factors but hey, you have a chance to do your part... Why don't you? Until then you're just another hypocrite trying to act like you're being 'forced' to steal and it's somehow morally justified.

I suppose my slight incomprehension of keloda's disparaging reaction regarding the pickpocket stems precisely from this: I never thought it was much more than someone who entered the terminal and perhaps an airplane using the wrong ticket, accidentally took a gun along, or some such, whereas keloda might've watched Mission: Impossible the previous night.

Aw,maybe you started following this thread from the 50th post upwards(to you it is PERFECT touch of genius). But if you read between lines(which i doubt you can "independently" do),you will realise breaking airport security,ip manipulation, cyber burglary(and a whole lot i neva mentioned in order not to get your types confused) are independent examples. What name do you give to it--A passenger bypassing airport security? (in whatever way he did it). Another indian imported ip manipulation?Or lecture on how government and economy is run.
Please, stop making a kid of yourself. One can disintegrate descriptive write-ups into distinct, independent parts that all point to the main idea.

It's a trifle late to be thinking of that. I direct your attention to the post that started this thread, where you brag like a kindergartener about what a superior lot Nigerian street-thugs are because they can break into things. After that, you got surprised when it seems most of us don't agree that you're the brain-trust of the world. Since then, you've been on damage control, and haven't been doing a bang-up job on that either.

That's the problem: We got it straight. You're a common street thug who wants the rest of us to think you're the hottest thing on the planet. We got that figured out, and you can't stand that. Yeah, we're thinking straight. Typically, it's the deranged person who thinks everybody else in the world is messed up and he is the only one making sense-- while he does something incredibly stupid and then tries to justify the unjustifiable. Welcome to the real world, where street thugs aren't regarded as the hottest things on the planet.

You're honest? Then that makes you a weird duck for sure; an honest man who champions street-thugs.

About not being as smart as: I point out that I'm not the one who posted that opening post that brags on Nigerian criminals. For that matter, I don't brag about how smart Chicago thugs are either. Should we discuss these things? Maybe-- but I guarantee that most criminals won't get high marks on boards like these. Committing crimes will sooner or later get you caught, tried, possibly convicted--- and when all of that goes down, your future is toast from then on.

Right now, Nigerian criminals have succeeded in making Nigeria the laughingstock of the Internet. First thing most people think of when you say "Nigeria", what do you think it is? "Hello, I'm General Scamu, and I need to hide several million dollars in your bank account. I need your banking information, then I will send the money and you can have a share". Now, personally, I don't think that's something to brag on, but if you do--- whatever floats your boat. Just don't think you're going to get much in the way of brownie points for thinking that.

There are countless ways someone can make legitimate use of talents in the technological field. Creating apps for phone's, clever web services or useful web pages. But when all you are known for is criminal activity then people aren't going to trust even the legitimate ones because the criminals are messing it up fir them. A Nigerian could write the most useful app on the planet and have it not trusted because all the criminals aren't clever enough to use their talents for constructive purposes. There's nothing uber clever about avoid detection and security only to get caught somewhere down the line. Where was his exit strategy? Criminal activities are not clever because in the end you end up caught. It's only a matter of time. You are promoting dishonest behavior (tho now you seem to be inferring you weren't) when you should be promoting using skills for legitimate goals. It's childish to attack everyone who has tried to point this out to you because you wanna believe your country man have some unmatched talent when in fact they are doing NOTHING original and in most cases seem to steal the methods they use to steal things. When they get caught--- and eventually they all do-- they find out that airport security is something you really don't want to mess with. These days, trying to dodge security is apt to get you thrown in the klink for a long time. Or, at the very least, you'll be in a room for a time answering questions you wish didn't have to be answered.

Incidentally, Kel-- aren't you unwittingly making my point? You're backing some goof who slips by security as if that's something to aspire to-- Yep, trying to make criminals look like they're smart, when in fact they're not.

Okay, the point you don't get is he's not the first, he got caught and the next Nigerian through those airports with a legitimate problem will get taken into the back room and strip searched.... hope you're not planning a flight to the US. sherlock

It wouldn't be that hard to get passed airport security with a fake ID... They are looking for weapons not morons. I'm just not impressed.

So how many US airports you been through lately? Bet I could make it into the secure area on a fake ID... Damn, I must be clever to even conceive such.

Why are you the only one who thinks you have a good point?

I wouldn't have thought it possible. Not even a little bit. But, by Heaven, I actually believe it's happened.

We have a poster, namely the OP of this thread, who is in a worse position as far as his grasp on reality than Katsung is. Now, that takes some doing. Katsung is so far out of this world that I think he just might know conversational Klingon out of necessity. Now we have Keloda. Words fail me in describing the bad shape he appears to be in.

OK, you want us to think your crop of criminals are really something? OK, they're world-class bozos. Except that Bozo never committed a crime, unless you really didn't like his cartoons.

Look who talks of ignorance. A man abandons his burning house to watch his neighbour make sculptures. Please, stop kicking knowledge. If you are short of "reasonable" posts, shut down your system and use your keyboard for pillow. bye nervous jester (i just hope he understands this)

OK, that's not nice. 99% of Africans don't think that pickpocketing boarding passes and slipping past overwhelmed security personal only to be caught on the plane makes one a master criminal hacker.
