Call it talent,genius,evil or whatever;but Nigerians,have for ages,proven to the greatest technologist,security expert,the weakness behind anything they've made. From breaking through the most complex airport security system,to websites with unimagined firewall system,to the most secured software system. Just mention it. Nigerians have got this notion that technologgy should be free for all. For network providers in the country,their systems have been hacked to the point that youngsters make free calls,browse for free send free messages and even deceive the network systems to extort call credits,promo gifts,browsing megabytes and lots more. Nigerians have launched websites dedicated to sharing tweaks meant to crack anything secured. Don't be suprised if a Nigerian breaks into the white house undetected

I have little reason to believe keloda is representative of all Nigerians. Tho many that post here seem out of touch and arrogant that is nothing that can't be said about many of my countrymen. One can only hope for the future... attitudes will change.

Indeed, they only do a cursory glance at the ticket. The most surprising thing in the story regarding his getting into the terminal is that apparently the date was off. That he actually managed to get on a flight is more surprising, considering they always scan the ticket before boarding.

I wonder about--- just down the line a bit. The plane has pulled away from the gate, it's sitting in the cue waiting for takeoff, when security issues a stop because some kid slipped through. Now you've got 110 enraged passengers because they're going to be late, and they find out who done it. "Sir Swifty" with his bogus ticket might have been better off being caught by security.

True. Like I said, I almost got on a flight to Detroit. I was already proceeding into the gate when the agent noticed my mistake. But I'd checked the monitors 5 minutes earlier before getting onto a series of moving sidewalks, so I'm really not sure why they decided to switch gates at the same time as boarding started. Customs had held me up for some ungodly amount of time, so I was in a slight hurry. I'd hardly want to say any US customs is my favorite, but the MSP customs were by far the worst.

But I would add that I had a valid ticket for that time at that gate, albeit to a flight that had just moved to the one right next to it. I imagine a ticket for five days ago would pop up with some kind of giant red flag.

It's really kind of sad. In order to block somebody here, you have to go to their "About" page, and there you find the button for that purpose.

As you read Keloda's "About" page, you find that he is an educated man, going to a university in Nigeria. So, the level of ignorance displayed is shocking--- but strangely not to be unexpected in today's business climate.

Take a look at American business and the way it's being run. You can't get into upper-echelon management unless you've got the degrees, and yet--- so many businessmen seem to be totally clueless about basic right and wrong. They may know everything there is to know about building the bottom line, but I daresay the average kindergartener knows more about how to treat people right, and the fact that just because you can get away with something doesn't make it a good idea.

I was curious and visited that page; not to block (for I do not hold with blocking) but to understand the man Keloda. I see that he is a student - in the area of computer engineering. But coming to the subject in focus.I opened the thread talking(not bragging or exalting) about these youths in Nigeria who are getting at anything technology.I was simply drawing a reader's conscience to the activities of these youths.And anyone who goes through the post will understand that my use of certain adjectives(extort,break in,evil,bypass, etc) connotes the fact that i don't support their act.
Still in the post exists a silent voice that puts you on the alert(''don't be surprised if a Nigerian........)about this youths.
Then a "150 million headed dragon" pops up to tell me i am dumb-- "Nigeria have no hackers,there ain't talent there,claims of Nigerians beating through airport security is fairytale,blah blah blah". And it surprised me that some(if not all) subscribed to that claim.I provided two links that shed light on my "claim" but that wasn't enough. The anger was--"how dare he present my fatherland in such defamatory manner before the world"--And i had these elders,musing with a cup of coffee,saying--"ah,John is right.That kid is insane.He shouldn't have been that raw with his claims" and things like that.

But what wrong is there in "describing" facts.Yes,it is Nigeria,my fatherland,but that shouldn't make me shy away from facts,the reality in place.
Ask of a remedy,i gave one.The government should polish the IT structures,systems in the country in such way that can embrace the youths(prodigal,they are)and turn them into national assets.This can be done by making IT education affordable to the poor majority and other ventures to bait the youths.
But no,it wasn't ,and never will! "These youths are criminals(i agreed),they gat no talent(i disagree).
And that culminated to the subsequent confrontation of "ideas" and the "idea carrier".

In all fairness, some of the best hackers (positive meaning, as opposed to crackers) I know are quite mediocre at writing Dutch (and English). You wouldn't be able to tell their mathematical and logical cunning from it. Of course that doesn't mean keloda falls in this category.
