Latest version 11.60 build 1185 Problems...............

1. I've tried put icon "Flat" & Thread" onto menu. However, M2 does not correspond when I press those 2 icons.

2. When M2 email checking with problem, an alert box would pop up & usually I could ignore without press OK or CANCEL to this alert box but continue my work in Opera. Found new version Opear force me to press this alert box OK or tp press cancel. Otherwise, won't let me continue my work as opera behind is blocked by this alert box. You have to first deal with this alert box first.

3. How to get back to 1 line mail panel instead of 2 lines ?

Thanks

Is that a custom icon? In 11.60, you click the wrench icon (the one without the horizontal lines next to it) and choose uncheck "threaded".

Click the wrench icon and switch the mail layout to something different than list and message on right. Or mess with opera:config#Mail%20View%20Two%20Lined%20Messages (0 or 1 or 2).

Don't know if that's a bug or intentional change.

These are the 2 icons original came from Opera. (the 2 bubbles alike, flat & thread icons)

Yes, this is how I do for the time being. Please tell me what is command for View Flat|View Thread ? So that I can assign to "1" single keyboard shortcut running Flat->Thread->Flat->Thread..... concurrently.

New findings, The "Thread icon" came from the Opera upgrade is work., it is next to the search mail box on the mail panel.
What not works is the "Thread icon" I put later onto the menu bar which I picked up from > Appearance > customise > Mail view.

Look at ui/standard_toolbar.ini in Opera's program files directory. I found:

[Customize Toolbar Mail View.content]
Button, M_MAIL_STAND_VIEW_MENU_FLAT="Set mail view type, 0,,,"View flat""
Button, M_MAIL_STAND_VIEW_MENU_THREADED="Set mail view type, 1,,,"View threaded""

Don't know if that's what you want.

It works for me. It's grayed out but clicking it still enables threading.

I'd go to "ctrl + F12 -> advanced -> toolbars" and star with a new "Opera Standard" toolbar and recustomize.

When I added the thread button, I added it to the toolbar above the message list and I have the mail view mode set to "list and message on right". So, it at least works on that toolbar.

Not sure if it helps, but I have found that if you Right-Click -> Customize -> Reset to Defaults, then go back and set things as you want them and it fixes stuff.

A bit cumbersome, but so far it has worked when I have had a problem.

Yes, that's what resetting to the "Opera Standard" toolbar does, but for all toolbars. Doing the customize way allows you to fix a single toolbar.

I re-set toolbar & does not work for my copy of new Opera.
Also, you also see I tried to drag address bar to the menu, doesn't work.

Hope I did not do anything mistakenly.

Thanks

OK, here's the deal. Those buttons toggle the *global* threaded checkbox under the wrench icon (the one without the lines next to it) that affects all views.

If you click the wrench icon (the one with the lines next to it) and override the global setting just for that view, it will also override what the buttons do.

I prefer do nothing to wait for the next build (with bug fix to this)
Anyway, can't complain since this is new version (unless I am a picky user)
You see... I can also complain why not this new version Opera does not let me put an address bar to the menu. Refer back my video you could see.

But thanks to Burnout426 the effort trying to resolve.

Yeh, you can't seem to drag it anywhere. There is a workaround though.

Right-click on the message list tab, goto "arrange" and choose "restore" to unmaximize the tab. Resize it a little bit. Focus a regular web page tab and shift + drag the address field from the web page tab to the message list tab and drop it on the toolbar.

It's not exactly a bug. The global/override thing is new so we just have a new use case to deal with now.

Before dragging, you have to click the restored-down tab to bring it to the front so it's shown over the top of the web page. Then, you drag to it (the mail window) and not its tab button in the tab bar.

Burnout426, Can you repeat for me the keyboard command of:

1. View thread
2. View flat

so that I can use a keyboard shortcut command as a work around for the time being. You know something people like me would read mail list sometimes in "Thread" and turn in a second to read the mail list right back to "Flat" view. you know what I meant......... would the command like this :

View Thread | View Flat

Your last time stated:
[Customize Toolbar Mail View.content]
Button, M_MAIL_STAND_VIEW_MENU_FLAT="Set mail view type, 0,,,"View flat""
Button, M_MAIL_STAND_VIEW_MENU_THREADED="Set mail view type, 1,,,"View threaded""

I think this might not be a keyboard shortcut command.

Thanks Edmond

The command part should be the part after the "='".

So, it might be something like:

Set mail view type, 0,,,"View flat" | Set mail view type, 1,,,"View threaded"

or

just

Set mail view type, 0 | Set mail view type, 1

or

Set mail view type, "View flat" | Set mail view type, "View threaded"

(or maybe minus the quotes)

You'll have to play with them.

But, the commands will do the same as the buttons.

However, you see from the video, once I Click (with shift held) , the mail tab immediately gone.

Just FYI, your various keyboard shortcut command only "1" of them works for me, this one:

Set mail view type, 0 | Set mail view type, 1

All other was no response after I locate a keyboard shortcut to it & I assign the same keyboard shortcut to thie able command., it works perfectly that each press would give me a "flat" view, and press again will give me a "thread" view.

Very handy !
Thanks!!

Now I return home, my home machine is with latest Opera version I Download day before yesterday.
All above command not work............ !

Sorry for if you can assign keyboard short cut to Mail Panel (and on application & mail window, just to be safe). See if you can make it work ? ( I add this shortcut by, choose, setting > Preference > Shortcut > Click Opera 9.2 Compatible , then I add the command. Hope I did it right)

I tested in this morning on my office opera. Work perfectly. That was old version opera without the recent upgrade.

Thank you

You can click this link to add a threaded/flat toggle button to "shift + f12 -> buttons -> my buttons". Then, you can drag it to where you want.

Toggle Threading

But, if you override the sorting for the list, it won't work, just like the default flat/thread buttons.

I'll test the command via a keyboard shortcut.

I tested with:

k ctrl shift Set mail view type, 0 | Set mail view type, 1

under Mail Window in the keyboard shortcuts and ctrl + shift + k toggles flat/threading just fine. But, just like before, it doesn't work if I override the global sorting for the specific view.

Again, you have to uncheck "override sorting" or it won't work.

I un-checked this, the button then works.

Why there's option of enable single key shortcut in keyboard short cut setting ?
What is it for ? It trouble me as below:

I assigned Set mail view type, 0 | Set mail view type, 1 to Ctrl 1.
Won't work due to enable single key shortcut is checked.

after un-checked enable single key shortcut, Ctrl 1 = work perfectly on Set mail view type, 0 | Set mail view type, 1

I won't be able to use Set mail view type, 0 | Set mail view type, 1 by Ctrl 1 if I did not un-check the enable single key shortcut.
