11.60: How do I get the old look back?

Hi,

I just upgraded to the new version 11.60 and I don´t like the new layout that much. In opera:config I found the entry "Mail Style File" which is set to "C:\Programme\Opera\styles\mail.css". I examined that file, changed "line-height" in the "htlm"-block, but apparently that was not what I as looking for (also restarted Opera).

I want to change:
- the line height of each mail/feed item (it is to big, therefore wasting space)
- the blue color of unread items
- the title of feed items (in the lower view) (it is way to big)
- everything else that was changed what I didn´t notice yet ;-)

Unseen items are still blue. It's a different shade of blue though (not as vivid). If you're using "list and message on right" or "list and message below" mode though, as soon as you select a message, the message will be opened and become seen. Messages only become read when you mark them as read.

Think you can do that for in webfeeds.html.

Not sure about that. For mail stuff, there's mail.css, mime.css and the skin. That's it. Not sure what you need to change in the files.

Thanks for the answer. I tried changing line-height in webfeeds.html but none of the three locations I found did change anything =(

None taken - I would ask the same question =)
and yes, I did.

Perhaps you have configured something else, too?

I have a similar problem -- I don't like the three-column look of the message listing on the side and the message on the right and I want it back to message listing on the top. I have edited about:config to change View Two Lined Messages to 0, Saved and restarted Opera but it's still the three-column monstrosity.

Just click on the icon on the upper right corner. The menu that opens has "Mail Layout" where you can change it.

no, that's definetially the switch. i tried it on another comp where no opera-mail was set up, installed a news feed, saw the 2-line-version and only changed said line to get to the "old" (as in pre 11.60) version.

Thanks much, urutzu. This put the mail listing view back the way I want it, with sorting tabs. If it were not for your information on this, I would have downgraded Opera to the previous version.

That's changes whether the subject and send display on separate lines and therefore as an effect, changes the line height. But, I assume that's not what you were asking when referring to the line height.

So, you tried editing the skin too?

I made a screenshot, changed the value, restarted Opera, made another screenshot. There are no differences between those. I use the view "list above, preview below". Perhaps you use another layout? Could you make two screenshots showing the differences?

I don´t know exactly how. That´s the whole problem: I don´t know where to change the appropriate settings =)

Thanks! I hope we can develop a solution there. Good to see that other users are hacked off, too.

With that layout, you'll only see a difference if you set that setting to 2 I think. "List and message on right" is what I'm using.

aaaaaah, I see =)

Ok, now I know what you mean and changing the value to 2 made a difference. But what I meant was the line-height of each mail item or rather the distance between each of them.

For me, no matter what the layout, setting "Mail View Two Lined Messages" to "0" makes the mail message list look the way it used to (the way I want it), complete with column heading sort tabs.

I agree , how is it possible to change color for unseen email an seen email - used blue is not so blue as in previus opera , and black is not black, is only dark. It is very bad reading for my eyes. the same for RSS... is it possible to use stule from 11.5 version? It was better...
