Un-Read not always shown within Labels
Hi All,I just discovered an unread email from last Saturday morning. I have the following Labels with "Hide from other views" checked
Western Accounts
....Personal stuff
........Dave
........Holly
etc
The "Personal stuff" label had the underlying Labels collapsed and the email was in "Holly" and when I expanded "Personal stuff" I could see
........Holly_____________________1
There was no other indication that an unread existed until the "Holly" Label was visible. I hope I do not have to go through all the Label structures to see if there are any unread emails several times a day.
I assume that was because I had "Hide from all other views" checked. Is there any way to have the main Label ("Western Accounts," or at least "Personal stuff") show that an unread email exists in one of the collapsed accounts? OR, is it a bug?
{edit}
By the way, I have "All messages" showing (open) and it did not show anything unread.
{/edit}
Thanks

If "All Messages/Unread" doesn't have "show hidden" set for it, messages in labels that have "hide these messages from other views" set won't show there.

When you nest labels in Opera, they are only visually nested. In other words, if you add a message to a nested label, it doesn't automatically appear in the parent label too. You have to apply the parent label too. Or, if you use rules, you have to use the same rules for both labels.
Given that, the parent label only shows the unread count for its messages, not any messages in any of its sub-labels. As far as Opera is concerned, they're not really nested. Only the UI shows them as such. It's just the way nested labels works and why it's so easy/simply to drag labels in and out of each other.
Thanks BurnOut,
Then the Parent Labels system needs to be revised to indicate buried un-read. What's the point of nesting if I have to have everything expanded in order to make sure that I can see all the un-read emails?
That is one of the things I hated about Thunderbird. I had to have all accounts and Folders expanded so I could see hidden un-read. Every time I do a "Check all" I then have to scan up and down a list of 93 emails accounts and sub Folders to see if anything is buried there.
Opera is doing exactly the same. Unless all the Labels are open an un-read email can be missed.
