"Period" setting for viewing previous mails in 11.60

Does anyone know where the control for setting the period went?
This used to be under the symbol that I called "the eye" for different views, a dot with the upper half of a circle above it (later: of course, this depends on my skin...), a drop down menu under the name "period", but it's not there anymore.
I need this back because my setting was 3 months, and now I can't access mails from before...

Thanks.

I have the same problem! I can't see any of my "older" messages now with no way to reveal them. Help says that the "period" selection should be under the "Settings for This View" icon, but it's not.

I found the "period" icon. It's not part of the default interface. You have to right-click the toolbar and choose: Customize > Appearance. The "period" icon is on the Buttons tab under the Mail category. Just drag it to the toolbar.

You're supposed to use the "group by date" option now under the wrench icon (the one without the lines next to it) now. Each section by date in the list is collapsible.

If you want "Period", you have to use the button or edit the menu yourself to get it back.

The "group by date" option organizes available mail in different views or lists, but does not control the overall "period".
I did indeed find the button I needed named "period" under the "mail" or "mail view" buttons.
I normally keep this period at 3 months, unless I search in older mails, so I do use it on a regular basis.
It mostly keeps the slider shorter (and therefore better control over it it), and I imagine it might make Opera a tad faster.
Thanks for the answers.

Yeh, it's not the "same". But, you can collapse the "september" group and all groups after it though to make the list shorter.

Excellent! By clicking on the header of the grouping! I'll see if I can get used to that.
Thanks.

First report: It is quite a nice feature to have mail organized and collapsed this way. The drawback is that after I perform a search, all headers are opened again and I have to individually collapse them again: a couple for the days of the week, the previous week, then all previous months, and then previous years, a total of about 18 headers. That's cumbersome. I'll probably go back to the period.

I mentioned it earlier as well http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=10947822
you can still find "period" in Buttons-mail, it doesn't even have an icon now.

I have been looking for period setting too.
This is important feature, I don't get why they removed it from default interface...

Collapsing date headers doesn't work as it should, when you go back to the view it gets uncollapsed sometimes, it takes space unnecessarily, IT DOESN'T FILTER OUT SEARCH and it's just cumbersome overall.

If anything, I hoped for more advanced period options. Instead it got dumbed down.

I'm wondering if the changes were designed by people who actually use the client everyday and have thousands of messages in it.

They definitely were.

You can of course disable grouping and add the period menu back in if you want.

It is a new feature, so I'm sure it can be improved and also fixed to handle all/most cases. Lots of testing goes into features, but even after internal and beta testing, it still takes a public release and a zillion regular users trying it out to catch everything.

Bugs should be filed and improvement suggestions should be added to the wish-list forum.

I also prefer the period option over the grouping option for the ease of search.
