Opera for Kindle Fire?

Hi All,

Will Opera run on the Kindle Fire without having to Root it back to full Android?

Thanks

if it supports side-loading apps(installing from sdcard/internal storage rather than through the download-market) it should work fine.
ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/android/mobile/
you'd have to download from there though if you can't use the android market.
and you need to install updates yourself.

ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/android/mobile/1150/Opera_Mobile_11.5_Android.apk
is the latest version.

Thanks, I will let the forum know after some testing. I can drag and drop non-Amazon stuff from the PC to the Fire, so it should (might?) be possible. Whether I can launch the app will be the big question.

There is a simple Root for the Fire, but I'd rather not do that unless I have to.

Hi,

I sideloaded Opera mobile 11.5 to Kindle Fire, but I have new problem.

On my work, I have http proxy, so I try to setup proxy in Opera via opera:config settings,

but whatever I try, not working.

Please help.

You need to ask that in a new thread.

How do I "sideload" opera to my fire? I copied the opera_mobile11.5 apk to my download folder on my kindle, but now I can't find it to try and install. any help would be great.

the reason why I started down this rabbit hole was to be able to read C-HTML files on my kindle, and someone suggested I use opera. Thanks.

Do you have a file browser on your Kindle? In another thread someone indicated they could use Astra File Manager on their device to install apk files.
