M2 : now in glorious grayscale !
Of course this is a matter of personal opinion, but I just want to give feedback on the new appearance of the M2 mail client embedded in Opera:
I miss the colors in the icons because they make easier to distinguish the icons in a glance, without having to read each label...
And, once more, thanks for the excellent mail client!
Best regards,
Certainly, a too colourful design is tiring. This new Opera Mail version is, however, really bad. All fonts and symbols are in a tiny and weak (looks almost semi-transparent) grey version. It's much more difficult to search and find things and to get an overview. Besides, it feels worse for the eyes. I get headache using this version, and it takes significantly more time to use it! In my view the new design is a big step backwards. I would wish I could just go back to the previous version, which was very ok.
I have to agree: I really, really do not like the new color scheme. I'm not to happy about the new layout either, but maybe that will grow on me. Up till now, I found every new Opera release an improvement over the last, so I upgraded without thinking too much. I wish I hadn't done that..
I've tried several settings and skins and can't find a combination that gives me back the '11.52 feeling' .
For now I settled on the '10.6 Clean version 4.01 skin' and set "opera:config Mail View Two Lined Messages" to 0.
But still my eyes are begging me to downgrade.. Guess I'll try that during the weekend.

It seems like, in general, the browser design is shifting towards a more monochrome scheme. I don't particularly care for it either.
I guess sometimes when designs are too colourful it can make things look a bit cartoonish. While when things are monochrome and simple it is usually considered 'sleek and professional'. Hopefully there is a happy medium because monochrome is also a bit boring and, as mentioned above, lacks visual cues that can help easily identify things.
