Icons

Hy, everybody!

I use Opera mail quite some time now, but since this new release I am lost.
Weather I was blind before or all / some of these Icons are new, I just can't tell. doh

But can someone please explain the meaning of the following Icons for me:

In the status line
* a light dot, like o
* a arrow to the left like I want to turn left
* a black Alien head or scull or what ever
* a head with a green tick (Mostly on people I know)

In the subject line
* a white papersheet
* a blue envelope (even tough I marked all read, jet it turns into a white paper when I select it)
* a big white ghost or skull

Even though I search the help I did not find an answer. Maybe someone give me a hint to the place
where they explain it...

Thank you all for your patience.

Toggles whether message is pinned or not. You can do this via the push pin on the message too or even via right-click -> pin message.

Means that you've responded to the message.

The same icon you see next to "All Messages/Spam"? If so, it means it's a spam message.

Not sure what you mean without seeing it. You mean icon "Contact38" if you right-click on a contact in the contacts panel, goto "properties" and then "images"? If so, that's the icon use for a followed contact. You can click a contact in the header bar above a message or right-click a contact in the contacts panel and choose to follow/ignore.

blueish envelope = unseen message
white envelope = seen message
Paper/letter = read message (as in you marked is as read manually (or automatically when a message is seen if you changed the "mark as read" option to "after 1 second")).

Not sure without seeing it. Sounds like you're talking about the spam icon again or the custom skull icon that you'd set yourself for a contact in the contacts panel.

Already found a UI bug...
When you push/unpush the pin on the message, the dot changes accordingly.
But when you click on the dot, the pin icon don't changes accordingly...

Thank you for your quick response. happy

Ok, I think it may be better to upload a screenshot (cutted):
Screenshot

Here you see on the left
*the black ghost,
* the head

and on the right
* the black white head.

I hope you can explain them to me...

It's a skull in the status column. (You might be able to click that to mark a message as not spam.)

That's a skull too.

Both of those are telling you the message is a spam message.

That's a 'followed contact' it looks like. You'd have to explicitly choose to follow a contact to get that.

A little trick too. In Opera's program files folder is a "skin" folder. In it is the skin. Extract the zip and look at the icons in the "icons", "contacts" and "mail" folders. Their filenames are pretty descriptive, so you'll find out a lot that way.

User interfaces keep improving, and tooltips are really a great way to include the manual into the software!
As a longtime and persuaded user of opera mail I was a little at loss with the new icons (thank you very much for this thread) and I must say, IMHO the tutorial did not cover them enough o .
