Regarding the feed/mail client
Well, there is 1 small problem bothering me still with it: The way the focus worked as changed. Before, I could click on a link, the page opens, and i tab back, and the focus would still be in the list of received messages instead of inside the message. The upgrade altered this behavior, requirering one to click back into the message list before I can use the keyboard to get to the next message.
Another inconvinience: Clicking with open in background tab also steals focus into the message, this behavior is quite a bit old, but also wondering if there is a way to "fix this"?
* Left-click in message list and message opens in pane. Message list is still focused.
* Left-click on link in message and ctrl + shift + tab to change back to the mail tab.
Expected: Message list is focused.
Result: Message pane is focused.

So, you're saying something like this:
* Left-clickinon a link in the messagelistand message opens inpanenew tab which takes focus.Message list is still focused.Message is focused after tabbing back to the tab.
Edited what you wrote to fit the current behavior, which may or may not be considered rude.

Yes.

It's all good.

O.K.
I open the RSS feed, click on a link("Article located over here"), new tab opens and gets into focus, hit Alt+Tab to go back to last tab(which is the feed reader), and I can still use the keyboard arrows to change what feed I am looking at, because the focus is still at the list instead of the message.
In the new version, I must CLICK on a message in the list, and THEN I can scroll/move around with the keyboard.

netbook(still not updated, likely won't do that).
What version though? Is it 11.52 or is it an older build?

I suspect you are doing things like clicking in the window to get focus first, to clicking in the feed first to be able to scroll?
I open up the mail panel by clicking the panel toggle at the left edge of the screen. I click on a feed view in the mail panel to open its message list. When the message list is opened, the list is focused and I can use the arrow keys to select which message I want. I find one (via the arrow keys) that has a link. I then left-click on the link in the message without clicking anywhere else. The link opens in a new tab and the tab is focused. I then use ctrl + tab to switch back to the mail tab. I don't use the mouse at all here. When I'm back at the mail tab, I try to use the arrow keys to move through the list, but the message is focused instead. In other words, clicking the link in the message removes focus from the list. Tried this in 11.52.
Are you getting to the feed list via "Menu -> Feeds -> Read Feeds" or something?

The reason I ask is that when I try it that way, after returning to the mail tab with ctrl + tab, the focus is on the list even though I had previously clicked on the link in the message. But, this works fine in 11.60 for me too.

This doesn't work for me in 11.60. What config dir do I need to nuke with a sharp rename?

Why would I use the sidebar?
That's what you're supposed to use. Feeds are part of mail and that's the mail panel. You're supposed to use it to get to mail stuff. You can of course get to feeds any way you want. It's just good for others to know how you get there because sometimes it can make a difference.

First, download the 11.60 installer and use the "standalone installation" option to install to a folder on your desktop. Setup mail in it (do not import anything, and do not uncheck "leave messages on the server" if you use POP) and see if it works fine there. If it doesn't work fine there, then nuking any of your files won't help.
I then went to "Opera butto -> Feeds -> Read Feeds". The mail panel, list and message pane all opened with the first messge being loaded in the message panel. The focus is on the list.
I hovered the mouse over the message in the message in the message pane and used the mouse wheel to scroll down to the bottom where "full article" is at. I then left-clicked the link (without clicking anywhere else before that).
Once the new tab opened and focused, I still didn't click on anything. I held down ctrl + tab and released when it was on "Feeds". The feeds tab focused and focus was still on the message list where I could use the arrow keys.
(I believe you. Just trying to sort out the exact steps so a bug can be filed.)

Thanks. I'll try to play with it more later.
Does turning off Auto Mail Panel Toggle make it work better?

Yes, closing the mail panel triggers the problem for me too.

Please file a report, just make sure you provide exact steps and all details to reproduce. In addition to the steps to reproduce etc., also mention this thread (don't just point to this thread without explaining everything in the bug). Then, post the bug number here minus the @... part.
Thanks
