Mail: Filtering/labelling enhancements
Hi there,I love the new Opera 11.60 email features, BTW - quite exciting. But, there is one area where the email functionality could be hugely enhanced.
My suggestion is to extend the concept of labels to being filters - where filtering on label is one of the options available. However, a filter could also be by strings matched in body, subject, from or to, or a date range. Then, in the 'Labels' list, add checkboxes so that multiple filters could be 'and-ed' to build the message list.
This would allow me to view, for example, messages received within the past 7 days that have been marked for callback, or important messages from a particular domain. It would also allow me to ignore messages marked as spam while applying other filter criteria as well.
I believe this would be more powerful than nested folders, and be consistent with the philosophy of managing email through search (certainly the wave of the future).
Also, adding an 'Advanced Search' capability would be very nice - once again allowing searches between dates, strings from specific fields, etc.
