"Labs"? Why some public labs?
They would make Opera open source or develop widget only? confused

I would suggest widgets only.

A clock's a clock. What the point of putting one on the desktop anyway when most people I've seen work with all their windows maximised. Hence they do not see their desktop.

I must be missing something here. I'll wait and see before I make a judgement on those "widgets"

With Opera's inclusion of BitTorrent functionality, can we uninstall the stand-alone BitTorrent proggy? Ie, will TP2 include a runtime type of BitTorrent? confused

I think so. The previous preview of BT in Opera did not need a BT program installed, i do not think it wil be different for this one.
HOwever. If they have not vastly improved the UI and options for BT i will not be uninstalling my current BT program.

Due to the inevitable load on O's servers, might it be an idea to set up a torrent so that we can all "share out the love" as quickly as possible?

Thoughts?

Thats a great idea. We could download it once to get the new opera and download it again to test the bittorrent client. lol.bigsmile

No there won't be a need to uninstall tp1 but don't install over tp1. Install the new version in a seperate folder and make sure that you are not installing for multiple users.

Installing for multiple users poses no problems. Just make sure you name a new directory.

Well yes it doesn't have a problem as such, but what if he has a past installation in multiple user mode of a stable release. Then the old settings could get messed up.

Not that I have seen. Now if your computer frequently confuses directories then that is a different problem.

Just make sure you give the new version a unique name, something like "Opera9tp2". I would also recommend not letting it install to the start menu and making your shortcuts manually.

I think it is useless to have a posibility uninstall bittorrent, becouse the code of function bittorrent have only 24KB -> Bittorrent not slow down Opera browser

No! see, when you install for multiple users, the default profile directory is
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Opera
this directory is same for all versions, betas, preview, stable etc. So if there is a past installation in multiple user mode of a stable release, then that profile will get overwritten , whenever a new version is installed.
btw there is no harm in installing a stable release over another, its just that we are dealing with previews right now.

No, it goes one layer deeper than that.

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Opera\[Opera]\

I currently have 9 different installations of Opera on this computer. Two of them are Opera 6.xx, one is Opera 5.12, they do not support multiple user profiles. The others are all installed for multiple users. I have been doing this for 6 months (as long as I have had this machine) and have not had a problem.

Yes, you can have as many instances of Opera on your computer at the same time. They can even both be open at the same time. Just use different directories, to keep things simple use the single user instilation and all of your files will be nice and tidy in a single directory.

Sorry about the spelling typos, I'm kinda tired now.

Other improvements include a content blocker similar to the Firefox Adblock extension, thumbnail previews of tabs (akin to the Quick Tabs feature in Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview), and a customizable search engine field in the Opera toolbar.
