Huge problems with Opera 11.60 on Windows 7 x64

Hi
I just updated Opera to the latest version 11.60 and I have all sorts of weird problems with it:
1. Huge memory usage - from 1-1.5 Gb to 2.5 Gb RAM with the same tabs opened
2. Constantly uses 25% CPU on 2.5 Quad Core CPU
3. Clicking links does nothing or it takes 5-10 seconds to start loading the new page
4. Refreshing pages takes at least 10 seconds to actually start loading the page and in most cases it results in a blank page
5. Updating RSS feeds causes any clip (Youtube etc) to go to 0 FPS and/or Opera becomes unresponsive
6. Closing or opening a new tab takes about 5 seconds to actually performed the action
7. Scrolling pages causes Opera to become unresponsive
8. Loading pages and downloading files takes forever
9. Clicking Opera icon in taskbar while other program is running causes Opera to crash.
I tried everything so far: reinstall, clean install, clearing the cache and any temp file.
System specs: Intel Quad Core Q9300 2.5Ghz, 8GB RAM, 2*640 WD Caviar Black, nVidia 285GTX

Just switched back to 11.52. 11.6 is simply unusable.

I cannot confirm these complaints. EEG

Well, I never said everyone has these problems. As far as I know this might not be related to Opera at all. But these problems occur right after updating to 11.6 and disappeared after switching back to 11.52.

I also encounter some of this problems back in 2006 right after installing Norton Internet Security 2006. I now use Norton 360 and I tried disabling it without luck.

I appreciate any ideas and help I can get. smile

I'm having similar problems with 11.60 on a Windows 7 x64 machine. Everything else on my computer runs fine. How do I switch back to 11.52? I hate what's happening. Opera has been my favorite browser since its very early paid days 1997, 1998? I bought it because I loved it and everyone thought I was crazy to. This is the worst upgrade ever for me.

I downloaded Opera 11.52 from filehipo. First you need to backup this folder: C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera since if you install Opera 11.52 over 11.6 it will not recognize Opera Mail. Uninstall Opera 11.6 and check "Delete user data" (or something like that) checkbox.
Install 11.52 and then copy the files from the folder you just copied back into the same folder. Unfortunately I lost my RSS feed so don't forget to backup first (Opera->Settings->Import & Export->Export Feed List)

I m having exactly the same problems after installing 11.60.
I was always cautious with updating my opera cause i had the same problems few years ago with other versions.
I think the beginning of the 10.xx. Anyway i will uninstall it and go back to the previous version which was very stable and didnt freeze my computer.

Wow, thanks daydr3am3ri - I haven't had to do anything like this for a *long* time and had completely forgotten about filehippo or, for that matter, about being cautious when I update. I had always assumed (there's my mistake right there) that software manufacturers would carefully check the software they write on all types of machines it might be installed on and pay attention to the problems their beta testers find. Then I became a beta tester myself and saw how the companies I tested for paid no attention to numerous error reports from multiple sources and put out the software with essentially no changes. I've never beta-tested Opera so I don't know if problems like these were ever reported to it but they're certainly real and I'm far from a novice user, having gotten my first computer 25 years ago. Thanks very much for mentioning the RSS feed! It works so well in the background (one of the many things I really like about Opera) that I would have forgotten it.
