[Request] Options for New Tab page, include homepage
I would like the option for new tabs to open my Homepage.I'm personally not a fan of Speed Dial because of how cluttered it is, and prefer the simplicity of showing Google.com (my homepage) in new tabs.
There currently is no option in Opera to do this, and no extension to enable this. I found a custom toolbar button, but that is insufficient because (1) it doesn't apply to keyboard shortcuts for new tabs (2) it doesn't bind to the new tab button in the tab bar.
Here is how Safari presents this option:
In my opinion, Safari has the most straightforward and simple implementation of new tab options, so Opera should refer to this when implementing this feature.

Edit the new page shortcut to "new page & go to homepage" (without quotation marks). Admittedly Safari's method is a little more straightforward. Btw, kind of the wrong section.

In Preferences > Advanced > Shortcuts you can edit the keyboard shortcuts. Then you can type "new page" or "t ctrl" in the search field and edit things to whatever you like.

Thank you, Frenzie, for trying. But, unfortunately, that doesn't really solve the problem. The new tab button in the tab bar still doesn't open the homepage. So this doesn't fix the problem - it just makes new tab behavior inconsistent (in addition to being complicated to configure).
I'm sticking by my feature request because there is still no way in Opera to make tabs default to the homepage.
