check/send button doesn't seem to have any effect
Opera 11.6, Vista, gmail imapthere seems to be a much longer lag between email notification (i can see it in gtalk) and the message arriving in Opera mail client, if I hit the check/send button I do not see any evidence that it has any effect. the message arrives eventually but after a much longer wait than with previous Opera versions. Any thoughts?
I also tried the resynchronize option, still nothing, then the message arrived on it's own several minutes later
Welcome to the My Opera community!
First, make sure you're subscribed to all of Gmail's IMAP folders, especially "All Mail".
Also, note that a user reported something like this before where the Gmail rss feed and the Gmail notifier app showed new messages had arrived a few minutes before the IMAP server did. It was assumed that the IMAP server just takes a little longer to reveal new messages, even though both the server and Opera support IDLE.
What do you have the check interval set to?
Under the you@gmail.com IMAP folder access point in the mail panel, does clicking on the "Inbox" or "[Gmail]/All Mail" folders cause the new messages to be fetched?
You mean that when you cilck it, it does nothing like the button is dead where no connections to the server are made? Or, do you mean a connection to the server is made, but it's like no new messages are found? If the latter, click the drop-down next to the check/send button and choose to resync. Also, you can try deleting the IMAP account and adding it back in. You can also use the "standalone installation" in the installer to install to a folder on your desktop and setup the Gmail IMAP account in it just to see if it works fine there.
Also, note that gmail IMAP is a non-standard IMAP server and can be quirky. Try testing with your @myopera.com address (via IMAP) to see how it is. You can compare with mail.opera.com

tnx burnout
It may have been a bad install, i removed and readded and it seems much faster, so fast it beat gtalk even
still when i hit the check/send button itself without choosing anything in the drop down or if I choose "check all" I don't see any sign of it doing anything. If I hit the resynch option I see it updating the feeds, only when I choose my gmail addy from the drop down do I see it actually checking anything.
cheers,
sheila

I have the same problem....
When I hit the chekmail button it dosent check mail......if I then close opera and restart, mail is found (if i have any, tryed that several times)
But atomatic mailcheck works
Plus I have 6 unread mails witch I remove and they reappear every time I restart.

There's a bug with check/send. See <http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1194512>. Not sure if that's what you're experiencing or not though.

<http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2011/12/23/lillejulaften> fixes the check/send issue. See if it fixes your problem too (or wait till 11.61 final to check).
