Having problems with Opera Mail

I just updated to Opera 11.60 and decided to try the Opera Mail client. I managed to link to my hotmail account using POP and it's downloaded all my messages with no problem.

However, when I click on the mail icon it opens up the Opera Portal panel first with the email icon in the corner. When I hover over the icon it changes to the mail panel. It also opens up two tabs One says Unread the other Mail.

When I click on unread or received messages in the panel it doesn't do anything - when I click on the tabs the only one that works is the one that says Mail. But they don't take me to my emails.

I then have to close the tab that says Mail to see the emails in the Unread tab.

This seems awfully convoluted. Is this a bug or just the way it runs? I have to be honest and say I don't like it like this. If it can't be made simpler then I'm going to look at stopping the Opera Mail client.

Thanks for your help.

Disappointed ~ Sharon

What mail icon specifically?

To get to mail, you should goto "shift + F12 -> panels' and enable the panel toggle on the left edge of the screen. Then, just click that strip whenever you want to open/close the panel list. Leave the mail panel selected and expanded so the mail panel always opens/closes when you click the strip.

Clicking on "All Messages/Unread" should leave the mail panel open, open the message list for "Unread" and open the selected message in the list in the message pane. It should just work.

But, you can tweak things to look how you want.

I'm not sure what you're clicking, but that doesn't sound right.

Hi, Thanks for your quick reply. I've taken a couple of screenshots to show what's happening. This first one is the mail icon I added to my toolbar so I can easily get to my emails (or that was the idea)

This one shows the panel that opens up when I click on it and also when I go through the Opera menu -> mail

I see, from "shift + F12 -> buttons -> mail" I assume.

That should work fine. Might want to remove it and re-add it just in case.

Well, that's the mail panel alright, but it's really wide. Do you have "shift + f12 -> panels -> panel placement" set to "floating" instead of "left"?

You are a genius. I did have it set to floating - must've been the default as I haven't changed any settings. Thank you so much for your help. The button on the toolbar works fine too. up

It's not the default, but it could have changed from a crash or something weird.
