Issues in 11.60 and 12: account detection and pinning consistency

The new M2 is stellar. Thank you. M2 requests:

- Account detection. If I have two e-mail accounts configured (g@a.com and g@b.com), and a piece of mail addressed to g@b.com arrives in my g@a.com inbox because of a forwarding system, and I reply to this message, M2 should be able to set the "From" account to g@b.com automatically for this reply. This is a very useful option in GMail.

- Pinning consistency. There ought to be an option to have M2 refresh the /FLAGGED (pinned) status of all messages every time mail is checked. Currently, if I pin a message in one IMAP folder, the pinned status of that message does not change in another IMAP folder unless I manually refresh it in that folder by right-clicking on the message and selecting "Fetch complete message."

Opera doesn't support aliases/identities to make that work.

That's understandable if you're using Gmail IMAP. There are multiple copies of the message. It's up to the Gmail IMAP server to make sure all copies are updated with the flag. As for Opera, it'd be to expensive to do a check/send and sync all folders every time you flag a message.

It should be enough to just click the IMAP folder or check/send to get everything update though.

Now, I don't know if it'll make any difference, but \Flagged means starred for Gmail IMAP. So, you can star a message by ctrl dragging it to "[Gmail]/Starred". Try it to see if it makes a difference in how the other copies are updated. Also, check that starring a message that way causes the Gmail IMAP server to add \Flagged to the message.

Either way, you won't have this problem with a regular IMAP server. And, with Gmail IMAP in Opera, you're not supposed to use the IMAP foldres directory, just the copy that comes from "[Gmail]/All Mail" in Opera's views under "All Messages" and such.

Too bad. Maybe eventually someone could write the code. I don't mean to minimize the issue, but it seems like a pattern match of the "To" address against existing accounts would be the only thing required.

This is very helpful. Thank you. I had not enabled the Starred label as an IMAP folder in the GMail settings. Now I have done so. This allows me to use the /Starred IMAP folder instead of the Opera "Pinned" screen as my list of pinned messages. Because Opera refreshes the contents of an IMAP folder every time you enter the folder, this stays updated in a much better way. I can still put a star/pin on a message in the Inbox by clicking the red dot, because GMail automatically puts all \FLAGGED messages in /Starred; I don't have to drag it to /Starred manually.

Thanks again.
