Opera's Google Search is slow [can open FF, copy/paste URL, and open it before Opera's finished]

Hello! smile New to Opera; having a weird performance issue here. Here are my specs:

Opera 11.60; Build 1185; Platform Win32 = on Windows 7 64-bit.
Firefox 8.0

For whatever reason, about 1/3 of the searches I do on Opera (via the search bar in Speed Dial or the search bar to the right of the address bar) are ridiculously slow. I'm using Google. The tab opens and it loads....and loads....and loads. Finally, it opens 15 seconds later. It is not my Internet (AFAIK): while Opera is still loading, I can open up Firefox, copy the URL from the "Blank tab" that's loading the search results in Opera, paste it into Firefox, and browse the search results nearly instantly after that (as one would expect from Google....), and then still wait a few seconds for Opera to finish loading the search results.

What's up?

~Ibrahim~

P.S. I have edited my menu.ini to remove "open in a new window" and "open in a new tab"....could this be causing it?

Just logged in to see if anyone else is having this problem cause I'm getting the same thing (and I can copy and paste into FF and get that result quicker).

I'm also using Google.

I just tested Bing, Amazon, eBay, DuckDuckGo, Ask.com, Yahoo!, and Wikipedia = they all work superbly quick, as expected. Google is still painstakingly slow. I also cleared my history and my disk cache to no avail.

What the shenanigans?!

Yeah, searching from the address bar works fine on my end, too. smile Is your SD search or search bar slow?

@Opera-all

960 seconds between posts? Maybe a little excessive...I wouldn't do this editing work-around, but I'm about to leave town (no internet for a few hours).

AND NOW, a few minutes later its quick again! yikes

Hmm, just typed in google.com in my address bar and it takes 20 seconds just to load google. Something has to be wrong with google!

Is there any setting to change to try something?

Here's my Google search that I've been using a long time...
http://www.google.com/search?q=%s&sourceid=opera&num=%i&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

I thought I would go to Google and create a new search (via Opera create a search), here's what I got...

Enabled SD search just to test and it seems normal here. Google page with search results opens kind of quickly here.

@Rif

Yeah; it's intermittent! Sometimes, though, if it happens once, it'll happen again 10 more times. But, it hasn't happened here at home yet on this other network, so we'll see.

Yeah, that first URL is like mine, but mine has some extra stuff at the end (I've disabled search suggestions):

http://www.google.com/search?q=%s&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest

Hmmm....well, it isn't happening now, so I'm unsure what to do! sad

@LeoCG

Weird...maybe Opera is network-finicky?

I'm getting this too, and it's disheartening. I love Opera - don't make me move to Chrome, please.
