Aid Maj. Charles Pierre de Liette killed in combat against Chickasaw Indians 1730's.............
.......Second Battle of Ackia, Tupelo, Mississippi Military District. Killed with him, kinsman Capt. Antoine de Tonty. Also killed First Battle of Ackia, was Mobile, Alabama, French marine, aide Maj. Pierre Gabriel de Juzan, born 1697. Maj. Juzan's mother was Mme. Michelle de Liette de Juzan "of the King's cabins", Versailles, France: buried at "the ancient church", 1709, age 34, Versailles, France. Maj. de Juzan's brother, Francois Sauveur de Juzan, born 1707, was courrier du cabinet de Roy. Brother Jacuues de Juzan, was commissaire de La Marine.Capt. Antoine de Tonty (di Tonti) was the brother of Baron Pierre Alphonse de Tonty of Canada (wed Marrianne de Belestre); and Henri de Tonty (one arm lost to hand-grenade), founder of today's Mobile, Alabama. The three brothers parents were "ancient Italians" in Paris, France; Laurent de Tonty and Angelique de Liette. Laurent, born 1650, founded the Tontine system of insurance. He was the son of a Neapolitan banker. Supposedly the de Tonty, di Tonti family, was from Forli Del Sannio, Campobasso, Abruzzle Molise, Italy?
One source says the de Liette (di Lietto) family was from Comune di Villar Pellice, Torino, Itally? I suspect our ancestor might be, Capt. Augustine de Liette (wife Isabella de Lietto) of the Guard for the Duke of Guise who was at the 1563 Siege of Orleans?
If anyone can help me sort out my 1730's America, French-Italian, de Liette, di Lietto, family; it would be appreciated? Corrections of my mistakes are appreciated.
