"Touch the Sky" not working
It looks as if the wonderful "Touch the Sky" weather widget does not work with Opera 11.60.
This has been reported by others elsewhere so it's not just me.
Please Johnny S (or Opera) address this if you can ASAP, as I'm really missing it!
I do know one of the problems, though - the code in that version used a variable called 'class', which is reserved keyword, even though it's not used by any browser. (Which I didn't know at the time.) It looks like one of the HTML5 parser updates in 11.60 includes rejecting this as an invalid name.
I have a fixed version of the utility libraries that I wrote, I'll do some testing and check that everything else works normally, and update it.
I really miss Touch the Sky.........
I have uploaded a new version, don't know when it'll get approved though.
Is it possible to use the new version now, or will I have to wait until it's "approved"?
I looked on the Opera Widgets download page and it says there are fixes for Opera 11.60, but the version number quoted is 2.0.
Wasn't the last version 2.4?
I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling again from the widgets page, but the version I got still doesn't work.
Did you get the private message I sent last night, with the direct link to the fixed version?
I must look to see if there's an option to be sent an e-mail when someone PMs you.
It's working fine thanks very much.
The install file name implies it's version 2.7, but it is 2.5.
I hope it gets approved very soon!
Happy Christmas.
Cheers, Dave.

Actually, it's revision number 207!

Ah, right!
To confirm, the version on widgets.opera. com is the updated version.
Just one thing as an aside, why does there appear to be another "Touch the Sky" widget on the widgets download page, apparently produced by someone called "DZE-MasteR"?
I've not actually tried it, but is it another version of your widget or a rip-off, and if the latter , why is it being allowed?!
I don't think that one's been updated in a while.

There was a period that I had absolutely no time to work on it, so someone went ahead and created a fork under their own name. I'd have preferred it if they had used their own widget name, but since I've not trademarked it, I'm not going to complain too much. As long as the license information remains in the zip file, I'm not worried. Although, I haven't actually checked to see if it is...

That explains it!
It's a shame now though that DZE-MasteR's Touch the Sky widget is still listed in the weather widgets list before yours.
I wonder if his still works with Opera 11.60........

Note though ... it won't display over top of Opera 12.00 snapshots (the hardware accelerated version), so I guess that's your next project. (Even Windows' own alerts don't display over 12.00 ...)
I extracted it to >oepra>widgets,
But ...how do I start this widget?
My opera is version 12.00, Build 1467
Thanks!
Ps. I really loved that widget!
If it isn't you'll probably need to switch the widget runtime back on.
Go here - opera:config#Disable Widget Runtime
Make sure the box isn't checked.
I found that upgrading to Opera 12 disabled it, presumably because Opera are no longer supporting widgets.
You may well have a shortcut in your start menu for it as well, if it was installed as an application.
I did what you told me, but looking into the widget folder, I found out that Opera deleted the widget! Now that "Disable Widget runtime" is unchecked, I will re-install the widget and try it again.
Thanks again Dave!
Thanks again!

Ok, it is re-installed, Opera did NOT delete it upon restart, but in the "Widget" panel there is no icon at all. By right-clicking into the widget panel I have no option. Should I eventually copy any of the files into the widget panel?
Thanks again!
Strange, it appears in my Widget panel OK.
Did it install a shortcut for it in your Windows start menu?
If so, does it run from there?
My system is a Linux system (Kubuntu).
I remember that, when I installed widgets in previous versions, opera automatically installed the widget and created the icon in the widget panel.
No you can only download a compressed file (*.wgt). After downloading it I decompressed it into the >opera>widgets directory.
Thanks anyhow for your helping hand!

Sorry, I shouldn't have assumed you were on Windows!
You say you decompressed the file into the widgets directory.
Did you just double click it?
If so, what happened?
It should just install unless Opera have removed that functionality.
I instructed the system to decompress the file into the >opera>widgets - directory. After that I restarted Opera, but Opera (my version is 12.0) does not recognize the widget and does not display anything on the widgets pane, the pane is just empty!
Also I did not find any installation file within the Touch the Sky folder.
Thanks again for your effort Dave!
P.S.: Actually I really think that Opera just totally removed this functionality!

Well it is possible that this functionality has been removed in Opera 12, but I didn't think so.
Try clearing out the widgets directory, and then just double click the .wgt file on your desktop, with Opera running.
What happens if you do that?
Does the Opera widget install dialogue appear?
