Add to that alt+p change to ctrl+F12 for preferences.. and don't forget to invite me wink

btw acoording to wikipedia all those radio buttons, check boxes are also widgets. So maybe its just a feature to remove these .. for whatever reason.

As I said on blogger

I'd personally like to know more about widgets, and whether they will have strict separation of abilities (like userjs does).

I'd also like to see (if they are actually anything like what we think they might be) how they will deal with the security issues - I have yet to see any implementation that was secure by design.

I'd hate to see BHO spyware style widgets, or even greasemonky style exploits for Opera.

However, what also would be awesome would be some sort of attempted compatibility with firefox extensions (not sure if this is at all possible, but greasemonky scripts to some extent can be eaisly converted to userjs so...).

But the security aspect still bothers me.

Of course, this all assumes that this is any sort real extension mechanism (which still seems counter to Opera's design goals).

Maybe they use code signing like they do for browserjs, and only they have the private signing key, and only sign widgets they vett? Though, how is that any better than just including them in the main browser I don't know...

Also, What is going to be tile windows now? I wish they'd stop changing the shortcuts... Well, I just change them back though.

With all this keyshortcut editing, I wish they'd finally put it the ability to edit [enter] and such, as well as the middle mouse button...

Can't say I'm too excited about these features. Don't see a real improvement in the former, and don't know what the latter are.

Opera have a long history of packing features in with excellent code efficiency and speed (I forget what the mindbogglingly small size claimed for the bittorrent stuff was, but it was far below any third-party client.)

Another observation, its 'show widgets' not 'allow widgets' or 'use widgets'. Does that make a difference?

While I don't doubt that last part, you should check uTorrent. It has all the most used features and weighs in at less than 100kB!

Yes, uTorrent is great if we "forget" about the fact that it caps your download rate according to your upload rate... Evilness, but debateable and completely off-topic. smile

I haven't noticed any of that. I've downloaded faster than 2000kbps while uploading less than 50kbps so that's gotta be a really forgiving ratio, or the situation is different for less popular torrents.

I know it's evil to quote yourself, but this is really cool, and offtopic:

FlipBack=Set preference, "User Prefs|MaximizeNewWindowsWhenAppropriate=2" & Maximize all
FlipForward=Set preference, "User Prefs|MaximizeNewWindowsWhenAppropriate=4" & Tile vertically

Well, the widget screenshot is not really convincing... We only see a menu item "Enable Widget". It could be any kind of widget... I hope they are compatible with Konfabulator widgets, because those are really cool and a lot of them already exist. But, of course, I will welcome our new widget overlords, whatever the shape and form they will come into.

The little page previews in tooltips are a nice addition too. I'm eager to see the new versions to come!

That tab thumbnail feature could terrificly well be implemented in the window panel, with a button to toggle it. When toggled a thumbnail would appear below the respective page title.
Then we'd have Opera's quick tabs.
