Please restore the star in the address bar

It was a very useful feature. Now I can't say if the current site is bookmarked or not. I have to check my long list of bookmarks. Again - it was useful.

Opera Software
It is possible in Opera 9 tp2 to add this button to a toolbar, but it is not possible to have it in the address field.

You can drag a such button from here, where Shoust posted it:
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=1426541

Just click click on 'Star' and it will be added to your custom button collection.

The star in toobar is not as good as the star in address bar. The star in address bar can use space of browser fully.

yes,Should be allowed to control show/hide the star button in address bar.
I hope the Opera developer consider my suggestion.

+1, if it can be disabled. I already have to cope with the RSS button that I never use....

As said above, it is considered that the "star" button being set in the address field should be better~~~
It is a good reason for this change that it can make full use of the rest space in the address field(we seem not to have to type such a long address in it ~~)

-1, the button exists separatly, there's no reason to clutter the address bar and the options unnecessarily when there is already so many options there. The button exists already, location is irrelevant.

Where were you all in the anti-star-in-address-bar thread? If you had voiced your opinion then, maybe it would had a greater impact.
You lot didn't seem to care back then, now you show up.

Very strange.

People don't know what they want!

Opera is slowly converging on what we all want. First no star, then star in address field, now star as a draggable button that can be placed next to the address field. The final step is to make a button receptacle inside the address field, then you can drag the star there and it will be just like it used to be.

Then after a while they'll add a second button receptacle on the right end of the address field, and the "RSS" or "radiator" whatsit will become another draggable button. It'll be on by default, but people who don't want it will be able to abolish it. Same with the security lock icon, and maybe even the favicon in the address field.

Voila, totally configurable address field.

I would hate having it, so I give it a reluctant +1 with the condition that it has to be removable.

For those of you that are using the button version I created this one that follows your bookmark icons for the current skin...
Button, "Highlight bookmark"="Highlight bookmark, , , , "Bookmark Visited" | Add to bookmarks, , , , "Bookmark Unvisited""

Maybe someone would be kind enough to post it as a button link?

To those who remember the 7.5(?) previews, and the updates to the panels, this will be familiar process.

i really like the star too

I think it would be best to put the star back with the option to remove/disable it

that way everybody wins! the people who want the star can have it enabled and the people who don't like it can disable it.

Forget optional. If the adress bar were customisable we would not be having this discussion at all :nods:
Though i suppose it might be hard to code.

It made the address bar very nice!

BTW,I hate the current icon of rss. It is characterless.

Wednesday, 15. March 2006, 02:47:58

It's funny - at first I hated it because I thought it was pointless and couldn't understand why it needed to be a part of the address bar. But now it's gone I miss it and being a part of the address bar makes perfect sense
