It affects jobs as well. My friend was a bus driver but as soon as he was diagnosed he was told that he would have to give that up.
Risk of falling asleep at the wheel apparently. Weird thing is they let him keep his driving license and he still drives a car. bigeyes

That would come into it right enough.
But it was the Dr's decision there and then and he had to go and tell his employer. I just thought it odd that he was allowed to keep driving a car. As surely if there is a risk then it shouldn't make a difference if he was driving a car, a bus or a motorbike. confused

There are a lot of danger issues added to the known ones and nobody even cares. Drink and drive, medication, car phones, even eating an apple could distract your attention while driving.

They are all against the law here anyway except for eating an apple, though they have talked about making that (eating) illegal too. Some people are even trying to push for smoking while driving illegal too faint

Was that verified? We never heard any more about that accident over here other than the initial reports when it happened. I think there was mention of the driver possibly changing a DVD or something. Whatever it was it was a needless loss of life. sad

Still the same here unfortunately. sad

Tried to watch that video of complete history of the Antikythera mechanism that you gave the other day.
Wrong time as far as my internet connection is concerned as it's crawling at a snails pace. down Had a problem the other day with any time we used the phone I lost my connection, happened 8 times in the same day. Found the problem to be a filter so replaced it but because of all those disconnects it apparently triggers a switch at the exchange as a possible line fault. So now I'm on crippled speeds until it decides that things have stabilised and I get back to normal speeds. Not happy about that at all. irked

I'll give it another couple of days before I contact my ISP again. Thankfully is it's still decent enough speeds for normal web browsing, just not good enough for watching videos unless you like watching them where they are constantly stopping and starting. bigeyes wait bigeyes wait faint

The problem we have over here (unless you are lucky enough to be in a cable area that is) that regardless of which company we use for our ISP, they all use the BT infrastructure for connection, they have a total monopoly. So the more people on-line say at peak periods, everything gets slower and slower. The entire thing is in need of a major overhaul and steps are in place for that happening. But if your are in a small town like I am you will most likely be dead before it arrives. down

That's the exact sort of package those who are lucky enough to be in a cable area get. My sister being one of them and she barely uses her internet connection. doh No option for changing providor though as there is only one company (Virgin) that do it over here.

"Between 20 and 30 tornadoes are sighted in the United Kingdom each year. But by modelling the pattern of winds and rain needed to create one, Dr Holden said that there were many more which occurred but went unnoticed, because they are mild compared with the "twisters" in the US. Instead they may take place without any witnesses.

"In the US they can be half a mile wide and have winds of up to 300mph at the outside," said Dr Holden. "But in the UK the largest would probably be a few tens of metres wide, with winds of up to 120mph. In the US they use Doppler radar systems to detect them, which we don't have at all in the UK."

America is all about doing it bigger and more dramatically. lol
