The problem for me is the absence drop-down menus on custom buttons. Skins without this option are not useful to me. These screenies show one example.

LikeIE v0.73: SS 1- The cursor indicates the dropdown for the custom button. If I click the button, the Opera menus appear across the top of the window in their usual position. If I click the drop-down arrow on the button, the menu appears as a dropdown beside the button, as shown in SS 2

SS 1
V73.jpg
SS 2 LikeIE v0.73 with drop-down menu opened.
V73opened.jpg
SS 3 - shows missing drop-down on same button in LikeIE v0.8
V8.jpg

I understand the desire to stay close to the IE7 template, but for me, the ability to have drop-downs on custom buttons is important. My argument would be that the skin is <b>LikeIE</b>, but the program <b>is Opera</b>. ;p

Thank you for taking so much time & care in designing LikeIE. I understand that it's impossible to please everyone, but you are doing a great job. I'm looking forward to watching the skin develop, which ever routes you take cool

What a nice clean job on this skin, as I too have commented on the Skins Community section...
As a couple of other posters replied, I would love to have a nice plain white piece of paper, instead of the 'stars' and the 'globe' (which is utilized in the URL box when a website does not have a designated favicon) as I feel it would look so very elegant as this skin is...smile

P.S. maybe a white piece of folded paper with a small un-intrusive red 'o'...lol

Great job here...

Just now exploring within the likeie 0_8.zip file where I extract it into its own folder then open and investigate using thumbnail view...lol

bookmark.png (16 x 16)
bookmark_unvisited.png (16 x 16)

page.png (16 x 16)
page_unread.png (16 x 16) ----->globes

1.JPG

Just love the newly added IE7 tab throbber (loading.png)...reload (green glass with stop incorporated)...Just nice
Yikes, being not familar with any Opera related skin files & procedures, I tried to exchange the above .png (16 x 16) then rezipped up the file, and placed it within the Opera\profile\skin folder, but when trying to apply the skin, I keep getting a 'incompatiable skin file' pop_up error...sad

EDIT Sometimes I wonder about moi...lol
I thought why don't I leave the skin within the Opera\Profile\Skin directory and just drag & drop .pngs into the .zip:
Using the default .pngs in the above areas from Opera skin...not bad...lol But I kind of like the 'whiter page folder .png from the new Vista wordpad images...

Here is another pic using one of your images...lol Even though it is 16 x 16, it is a touch too large *** IMHO smile

Hi,

I agree about the custom icons having no dropdown menu on them
For me this is essential as I have created all my toolbar icons
to have them as to mirror IE 7 exactly.
I have been doing some of my own customing of LikeIE
and here is what I have achieved so far.

hi, i recently downloaded & upgraded to like IE theme from opera (from v 0.7 - 0.8)

i think this one is the best out there but for some reason, the author changed the theme & removed the dropdown icon beside some icons that is supposed to have it (drop down menu icons)

as u can see on the screenshot, dropdown missing.jpg some of my icons have a drop down icon, but the other doesnt have..

we all know that the "new tab" & the "bookmarks" button in IE7 doesnt have dropdown menus, but the "Tools" in our custom buttons shud have it.. if the author decided to revert that dropdown menu again, then the bookmarks & new tab will newver look the same as IE7.. is it possible to have the dropdown menus on the icons of our choice only? thnx..

i hope the author can reply to this.. thnx in advance,, im happy coz opera skinning is alot easier than FF.. wink

I keep coming back to this skin, because of my joy in using it...inzavi you also have a nice following @your DeviantArt acct..smile

With any type of skinning, theming there are going to be many opinions, suggestions, ect in order to help assist the artist perfect his_her work, and this is good as long as it is reasonable & able to be acommplished...lol I now have my setup of this skin to my liking, but am trying to find a '.dll within IE7 that has the actual bookmark.png resource (yellow circle w/white star inside, this is a the actual IE7)

IE7.JPG

Here is what I now have for my likeie7_opera skin: When I came to Opera (after utilizing FF since the 0.5 Pheonix days) I really liked the elegant Euro GUI of the default skin (and still do), but I'm now hooked_on_ Vista_IE7 glass GUI look..lol

11.JPG

Also as quoted by you inzavi on the 'comments section':

"Please let me know what you like better:

* Blue or green progressbars?

* Rounded or squared pagebar button corners?"

The rounded pagebar buttons are real nice, and I do like the blue progressbar, but a green, glass colour (matching the shade of the refresh/stop button) may look quite nice too...lol
I've just been used to looking @default Opera Blue coloured progressbar, but subtle change is always refreshing...smile

Went back to the default Opera skin--->page.png & page_unread.png--->their size is just right...lol

Somebody is really worry about his skin's ratings, and have invited me to...

...to be a member in the big community of `fair skinwriters`; fair against the user and against other skinwriters...

This does me credit... but sorry not now.

The skin is removed from Opera.com. Upcoming versions will be available here: http://likeie.by.ru/ ...without any ratings and counters.

Hi inzavi,

I hope that you received my PM...One of the last (well as of today) comments mentions v0.81 and I did go to your site posted above but did not see any mention...?

Life is too short to be bothered by 'petty comments'...

smile

EDIT

Saw your latest reply...no problem take your time and most importantly have fun_with_it...
0.81 has all the right_subtle changes........

EDIT AGAIN

0.82 on your site...........he_he...love it!

ok after reviewing the ReadME.html file:

LikeIE v. 0.8

Installation
1. Extract likeie.zip to your opera/skins directory
2. Click here to install main menu dropdown button.
3. Go Preferences > Advanced > Shortcuts and create a keyboard shortcut for "disable menu bar" function.
4. Disable menu bar.
5. Go Appearence > Buttons > My Buttons and drag "Menu" button to address bar to make it look Like IE wink

Dropdown menus
Missing "dropdown icons" ? Just click on a button, wait for a second or move cursor down - button's menu should appear.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had drop-down arrows on:
bookmarks
trashcan
Rt of the Blue drop down Menu icon

with likeie0.81 ***

Really for my needs only drop-down arrows on:
bookmarks (although this is not of IE7-not biggie here)
trashcan ***

default opera.JPG

likeie8.2.JPG

Here is the exact same setup with likeie0.81: As the drop_down arrow appears to the Rt of the Blueglass Menu icon (which I don't really feel is needed...at least for me...lol
bookmarks.png (older icon) has a drop-down arrow (this feature is nice to have)
trashcan.png has drop-down arrow (feature is nice to have)
New bookmarks.png and switch.png (Vista control panel) is quite nice in 0.82...smile

likeie0.81.JPG

Here is likeie0.81 setup with drop-down arrows, but with couple .png from 0.82:
bookmarks.png
switch.png

ie0.81_with0.82 icons.JPG

Glad that you uploaded the new version 0.82 to your site, and are continuing to support this neat skin...

Quick question as we seem to have a nice following with this wonderfully soothing, bug_free skin:

I have been searching almost all .dll within \Windows\system32 looking for which dam .dll holds the toolbar icons for IE7 Beta 2 Preview?

The printer icon is the one I have been on a hunt for...lol

Very nice blinkybill & slimzky...smile
As I just was going to D/L a 'resource finder/type' app (freeware) which does a nice job at showing the various images within files via a Rt click, but I really don't like to add any more strain on Explorer...lol

The Opera skinning protocol looks to be nice and semi_straight forward, rather then the complex .css code and frequent changes to the Mozilla code base...I have a good colleague named Lynchknot (who was heavily involved in skinning with FF, back in the days of the Pheonix 0.5-Firebird 0.7-Firefox 0.9...lol), however he received so many absurd comments_complaints, general whining that he frankly got quite discouraged...

For moi, I'm still getting more comfortable with customizing Opera GUI (dragging icons, toolbars, ect), so if I PM one of gents (with questions about your nice setups), please be kind...as I'm still exploring...lol

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your comments about the IE 7 skin
i am using.
For me I am no skinner believe me.....Just
by a lot of trial and many errors have managed to
come close to copying IE 7.
I am using version likeie-0_733 as the later
version messes your dropdowns beside the toolbar
icons.
I would be happy to help anyone to achieve their
opera look so don't hestiate to leave a message.

Hi Ashton8,

As I made most of my icons at http://nontroppo.org/tools/buttonmaker/
I could post my toolbar ini file here if you like.
If you copy the ini file to your profile/toolbar folder
when you go to Tools- Preferences- Advanced - Toolbar ,
it should show up as Internet Explorer 7 toolbar.
Most of the icons I changed or modified using a lot
of the original Internet Explorer 7.
A lot of buttons you can get here http://nontroppo.org/wiki/CustomButtons

Hello blinkybill,

lol, as I too have no extensive skinning experience but through many, many pained hrs of trial & error can achieve a little!
I used to be a 'Aqua emulation freak' and would spend literally hrs upon hrs manually editing various resource files with Restorator, ResHacker, ect...But after a monthly MicrosoftUpdate session where there would be a shell32.dll security pack update of the file...........lol forget it.

I am completely enamoured with the Vista_Aero-glass GUI, and now have a edited shell32.dll (and other various files), but my still cartoony Luna Control Panel (in Classic View) was bothering moi, so I decided to give a Vista5308 build icon 'look here'...lol

Now my next goal is to get me good colleague, Emil (em3 of LunaElement VS fame_long threads in the WinXP Customization section @Neowin) to hook_me_up with a very smooth VistaXP msstyle that I am currently using, but have the Vista style startmenu...I have a limited knowledge of StyleBuilder, and it can get on ones nerves very quickly!
Off to hopefully catch up with my very knowledgeable Swedish skinning friend via IM...smile

Vista CP.JPG

P.S. Thanks for the toolbar.ini file and textzoom button upload....am presently satisfied with my present IE7_like look, but this will give me something to 'play_around with' when the mood strikes me...lol
I did go the route of getting Alternate Buttons @non-troppo invaluable site: smile

1. Stand-alone stop button
2. Stand-alone reload button

inzavi did a real fine job with these two buttons...not sure if I will keep two seperate or one combined yet (active colour of button states of course is more colourful) IE7 designers did this GUI part well.

Hi gahbmwM5,

Yes I know how you feel when it comes to skinning.
I have spent many hours trying to emulate the look
of Internet Explorer 7 in Opera 9.
Getting the zoom button in status bar took me many
hours to get right.
I just love the look of Internet Explorer 7
so thats why i decided to mess with this skin.
But i enjoy the challenge of trying to make
something look like something else.

Hi blinkybill,

ok m8, now I'm foolin around and need some of your 'keen advice'...lol I'm currently using ie0.83N (no drop down arrows)...
I have backup the default:
standard_toolbar(1).ini and replaced with the one which you kindly uploaded (I know that you mentioned that you utilize 0.72_3 ? because of the issues the more recent builds do with your 'desired setup' lol

On my tabbar:

1) Bookmarks.png is fine & also 'yellow cross' which opens Panels: Bookmark section (this is nice) as I had the same look of the icons but a different setup(state) when pressed
2) On by the Home.png (I really don't need a drop_down arrow here) so it is fine
3) Newsfeed (have the default icons-read & unread)
3a) Searched through inetcpl.cpl and only located active feed: IconGroup # 4498 (32x32) (Would I not need a active_read orange coloured feed and then inactive_unread greyish colour feed icon ?
4) Tools icon: text to the right stated 'page'
5) Page icon: text to the right stated 'tools'

lol...so I removed them from the section and (assume those were buttons from non-troppo site?
Anyways, here is a pic of what I have now...sort of half_arse, but this is a good learning process of the Opera customizations..smile I did remove the default 'help icon' on the toolbar as I do not need this...Wand will stay...lol

Thanks again blinkybill attempt ie7 fun.JPG

EDIT 2nd ss with your exact toolbar.ini settings

Sometime I wonder how I ever get up in the morning blinky...lol Should have posted this ss, but here is what I have as I will probaby need your assistance to get my setup to llok similar to yours...will probably have to edit a little...?

ie7_help.JPG

ok after looking @your above post, it looks like I will need to make the following buttons:

1) Page button-with proper icon-lol (drop-down arrow to match your code in your standard_toolbar(1).ini )
2) Tools button-with proper icon (drop-down arrow to match your code in your standard_toolbar(1).ini )
Have not uilized the Opera Custom button maker before... (lol_will patiently await your assistance blinky.......I started on my evening indulgence of fine libations........Absolut Mandarin on the rocks...........for tonight~)

Hi gahbmwM5,

For me first of all the colour of the background of the browser
was wrong so i changed them to match the original IE 7's colours
as for me skinning a browser to look IE 7 it has to be as close
as i can get it to the original.
All of the buttons except for the feeds button and the zoom
button i made with the opera custom button maker.
If you use any version of likeIE later than 0.733, I dont think
you will get the dropdown buttons to work.
The RSS Feed button i got at here http://nontroppo.org/wiki/CustomButtons

Here is the skin which should make your opera look the same as mine plus, if you use the toolbar.ini i gave you also.
Copy the skin to your Opera - Profile - Skin folder

Internet Explorer 7.zip

Zoom Button..........drag down to the right hand side of your status bar
button

Please let me know how it turns out.

Wow Blinky,

m8 you obviously did a lot of tweaking_editing...looks quite nice as I did not realize that the default IE7 Beta 2 Preview had the background toolbar colour as in your skin...I'm using Franco (KoL's) older, but very smooth VistaXP, and it skinned the original IE7 toolbar background (more of a neutral gradiet white_beige...lol)

The booze is in full effect now my friend, so please allow me to fully appreciate what a nice, time consuming job that you did on a already wonderful skin.

Please see ss as I can't seem to figure out, how to add a 'menu button' so that there is no additional 'menu text' button to the rt of the blue_glass search/find button...

Adding a shortcut rule? Never fooled with that command before...lol

Thanks so much...smile1IE7.JPG

Hi gahbmwM5,

Glad you like the look of it and yes I did spend many hours
tweaking to get as close as the original IE 7 Beta 2 Preview.
Regarding the text on the right of the icon...did you right click
on the icon and select customise then select show icon only?.
You might find this hard to believe but i have been only using Opera
for about 3 weeks and until then i had never used it before.
As far as tweaking go I am a printer by trade so I think that
might make be a little more critical as how to something looks.

Also regarding this "Please see ss as I can't seem to figure out, how to add a 'menu button' so that there is no additional 'menu text' button to the right of the blue_glass search/find button..."
I dont see any text on your ss mate?.....Can you elaborate a little to what the problem is?.
I can see also you still got the File ....Edit menu there ..if you want to get rid of it
go to this site here and download this button "Same but uses V8.0+ hidden menu mechanism." under the heading Menu Buttons on the page , then drag it to anywhere on your toolbar and then click it the Menu will dissapear and then you can right click on it and select remove from toolbar
as the File....Edit menu is in the dropdown button of the Tools Button.

G-day Blinkybill,

All I can say m8 is outstanding! Now that my mind is semi-clear (lol) I can fully appreciate the 100% IE7 emulation effort put forth by your long hours of work...
When I first viewed the GUI architecture within IE7 Beta2 Preview, I immediately smiled...a huge hit for moi, but reviewing the various comments on the temporary IE7 NewsGroup in microsoft.public.internetexporer.general one would have thought the 'world was coming to a end'.............lol

I am never one who gets caught-up in the various browser 'kiddie wars', as I will utilize any one that is fast, secure, full of features that I would utilize during my surfing sessions and looks cool...I value the fact that developers from the 3 browsers which I do use, Opera9 TP2 (weekly builds sometimes too), FF 1.5 (nightly branch), and IE7 Beta 2 Preview recently met for a security related session (sort to speak).......All end_users benefit...smile I'm sure that when IE7 comes out this Summer with a [release] candidate for WinXP that it will be polished and nice! Of course what computer related enthusiast is not excited about the upcoming new MS OS Vista.........hell I am...

Thanks for the 'precise instructions' regarding the MenuButtons @nontroppo's site as I 'was using one', but not:
"Same but uses V8.0+ hidden menu mechanism."

Now the skin looks great, but the command strings that you put forth within your standard_toolbar(1).ini are great! (Especially with the fully functional drop_down arrow menus........excellent)
As I have only been utilizing Opera since 8 builds when it did go 100% Ad free, and really enjoy the Opera community and interaction from Opera Devs in their new desktop_blog section with the weekly builds.
Firefox 1.5 presently is going through a new bookmark system called 'Places' and it is very rough and frankly the GUI (default skin is getting very stall for moi) A new GUI look is in the works but this will be for FF 2.0...only time will tell what transpires.

Question: I have posted up two pics-screenshots:

1) OrigIE7 (which shows 'quick tabs' button_light blur square next to the yellow star on toolbar)
2) O9IE7 (I see on your ss that you show this button, and I have opened up your skin and viewed this button within thumbnail view) But what feature is it representing as I can't seem to locate it when the skin is applied?

I know that one of the [most popular requests] for the developing weekly builds is to see if the Desktop Devs can possibly implement some sort of a 'IE7 quick tab' feature, besides the present 'thumbnail view when hovering over tabs'..

OrigIE7 Beta2 Preview.JPG

O9_IE7.JPG

PS. lol...I see with your latest clipboard ss, that you added the Vista globe with 'internet' text on statusbar......smile when you take on a project blinkybill..................LOL

Hi gahbmwM5,

Wow I have never received so many compliments in my life......lol
I appreciate your comments and its good to know someone appreciates
what I have done. In many forums that I have been in I was almost
laughed out of the place.
Umm...the Quick Tabs feature lets you open a new tab if you click
on the blue squares and if you click on the dropdown button
it lets you select from one of the tabs already open.
I don't know how to make it hidden when its not in use but
I suppose eventually I will work it out bigsmile.
Well I do like firefox also but I found for me personally
I needed to add too many extensions to make it do what I have
found Opera does almost straight out of the box.
Anyway thanks for the comments and i will keep you posted.

lol...always perfecting blinkybill...smile

I didn't spend much time today on my laptop, but will explore into 'how the get the quick tab icon' on the toolbar next to the bookmark icons...

The working drop-down arrow for the feeds looks great, and I look forward to trying this version out...Please no 'stressing out' on trying to get the Opera (blue square icon) to disappear...I'm just now trying to locate it, to place it on the toolbar...lol
I see this icon within the skin folder after I extracted the .zip then view the various folders in thumbnail view...so is this then a custom button that I have to get at nontroppo's site..lol ?
quick_tabs.png--->within the \icons folder..

In fact, I'm enjoying the overall GUI look of this skin right now, that I even applied my good colleague, em3 of LunaElement VS fame...It is now version LE5.0.5, and the Blue colour combined with Opera IE7 skin is quite elegant...IMHO...

Yes please do keep me posted, and I trust you received my previous PM..? Had some IM info for you if you indeed do utilize any IM clients...I don't go on IM that much (although I am a beta tester for the closed, managed WLM8 app, which just came out with a new refresh 8.0.0566 build...(pretty nice GUI, but of course still buggie...lol)

Cheers...m8 !LunaElement5.05_OperaIE7.JPG

Hi Mate,

Looking good on your ss bigsmile .

Here is my latest toolbar .ini file
Most of the buttons i have tried to have
some functionality similar to whats
in IE 7.
If you want the image for the globe
here it is: internet.png
I imagine once you load the ini file
then the quick tabs button should
appear as its in my toolbar.
Anyway let me know what happens
otherwise i can tell you how to make it.
Oh yeah I added you to my MSN Messenger.

Hi blinkybill,

Ok thanks just got on my laptop...let me apply your latest standard_toolbar(1).ini and see if I can get the 'quick tabs.png' to appear on my toolbar...

See that you have 'your setup working' on inzavi's latest likeie0.83...smile Will try to catchup with you m8 on MSN Messenger...

Internet.png (that you kindly posted above) ...I guess that I should drag & drop the image into your:

Internet Explorer 7\icons folder ? or drag it down onto the statusbar... (like the 100% Zoom image)...

Hi blinky,

Ok I did drop the internet.png into:
\profile\skin\icons

lol...however something is b0rked (not sure what happened)...see ss
my status bar text is stating:

Done Completed request to ........ ----------->This I'm sure is a edit that you made, but on any site when my cursor is over a image...I'm getting repeated text...something that I'll have to get with you on IM...to transfer some more ss...

P.S. I did delete your older:

standard_toolbar (1).ini and replace it with your above (most recent), but I see you have it named:

1standard_toolbar (1).ini ----->which I renamed to: standard_toolbar (1).ini Can not see this causing the issues?? lol

ok blinky I deleted your latest standard_toolbar (1).ini and started fresh, no maybe your latest tweaks/edits are on likeie0.83 (as I have your Internet Explorer 7 skin applied...lol)

Hi gahbmwM5,

Some of those things in the status are spacers which i used to
get the internet icon into its position. There is probably another
way to do it but as i said i am no skinner so i have to make do.
I am almost done with 0.8.3 so i will post the toolbar.ini
and skin folder when its ready...it should be exactly as mine.
Your ss's look good otherwise up

cheers

P.S. I managed to get a dropdown menu with search engines in it
as per IE 7 but its only show at the moment.

Hi slimzky,

Here is my search.ini:
search.ini
Slimzky are you using the latest 9 Preview Build as it has its own
search engine creator built in.

Hi gahbmwM5 and Everyone,

Here is my latest ini & skin

2standard_toolbar (1).ini
rename it to standard_toolbar (1).ini before putting it in your profile/toolbar folder

Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2.zip

Just a note the search dropdown is only for show at the moment so when i can get it to
actually do a search i will post my new toolbar ini file.

Enjoy

Hello blinky,

lol...what I did until (I just saw that you posted up a new standard_toolbar (1).ini and Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 skin) was utilize your other:

1standard_toolbar (1).ini but eliminated the status bar code that was giving me the double text issues.. lol So I had normal text on statusbar (when hovering over any link)...but still had the 100% Zoom with proper icon---->to the left...

But now I will try your new updated files...

2standard_toolbar (1).ini (renamed correctly of course-lol), then try it with Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 skin...
Will post up a ss of your always appreciated dedicated work...smile

btw: Blinky, what build of Opera are you using ? As I am using my weekly_8238 Sig build (which has been stable for my needs)

ok looking good....smile but I'm still getting the 'extra text' on the statusbar...(the ie7 globe is now showing up correctly to the left of 'internet'...)
Says: Done Completed request to my.opera... xxxxxxxxxx --->more url text xxxxxxx--->more url text

ie7 beta2_latest files.JPG
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Status Toolbar.content]
Button0, "Done"="Focus next frame, , , "Done""
Progress1, 5
Status2
Status3
Button4, "Internet"="Edit site preferences, , , "Internet", "Internet""
Spacer5
Spacer6
Spacer7
Spacer8
Spacer9
Spacer10
Button11, "100%"="Zoom to, "100", , 100, "Zoom" > Zoom to, 120, , "120%", "100%" > Zoom to, 150, , "150%", "Zoom" + Show popup menu, "Zoom Menu""
Spacer12
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blinky, maybe you wanted this extra text on statusbar...however, I'm going to experiment with this code section as I am so use to just having one line of url text when hovering over...ie:

Apologies for the double post, but I can't seem to have your latest standard_toolbar (1).ini---->statusbar code to not mess up on my Sig_weekly 8238 build...

So for now I have put your older statusbar code in, and this is fine for me...lol
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Status Toolbar.content]
Status0
Button1, "100%"="Zoom to, "100", , 100, "Zoom" > Zoom to, 120, , "120%", "100%" > Zoom to, 150, , "150%", "Zoom" + Show popup menu, "Zoom Menu""
Spacer2

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

older standard_toolbar (1).ini statusbar code.JPG

Hmm, ok I went back to your latest 2standard_toolbar (1).ini file, but maybe it is my native 800 x 600 resolution on my laptop but the statusbar text....should state: Done ***

I have: Done Completed request to my.opera... then more url text then more url text

lol...hmm.JPG
hmm ll.JPG

Ok, I think that I'm now understanding that you 'had to format your code in the statusbar section within the standard_toolbar (1).ini in this way in order for the 'internet icon & text' to display in the area on the statusbar...

I have viewed your above latest internet explorer 7.png ss:

On your statusbar text--->on the far left hand side is states:
Done

But my statusbar text--->on the far left hand side states:
Done Completed request to.............

This is where I'm perplexed...lol ? I see what is happening (at least on my WinXP SP2 laptop, is that the statusbar text:

Done Completed request to my.opera... ------>this is remaining...when it should list the various text requests...Bla, Bla...then when the site is completely loaded:

Done

Hope that this helps blinkey..? my ss will show exactely what the statusbar text is showing---->on the far left hand side of any site
hope_this_ss_helps.JPG

if you are using Opera 9 TP2 Build 8212, then this could be way my statusbar text is b0rked...please let me know, as I will then try a clean install of O9 TP 2 Build 8212...smile

Hi gahbmwM5,

I messed around a bit with my status bar
so try this new toolbar.ini file and let me know
if this works better. I think i had more than
one copy of the progress status in there.
Nearly all of my buttons have a purpose
but only a few like Done and the search engine dropdown
arent working at the moment.

3standard_toolbar (1).ini

Don't forget to rename it.....otherwise how do you like the skin now?.

Hello Blinky,

What is positive is that you too are utilizing the Opera 9 weekly builds, as there may be some code changes that can cause weird issues from the Opera 9 TP2 Build 8212...The skin is coming along quite well...smile

Unfortunately, even with your appreciated 3standard_toolbar (1).ini (of course renamed)...same issues for me regarding the statusbar text on the far left hand side:
By quick glance, the statusbar code is similar from:

2standard_toolbar (1).ini

[Status Toolbar.content]
Button0, "Done"="Focus next frame, , , "Done""
Progress1, 5
Status2
Status3
Button4, "Internet"="Edit site preferences, , , "Internet", "Internet""
Spacer5
Spacer6
Spacer7
Spacer8
Spacer9
Spacer10
Button11, "100%"="Zoom to, "100", , 100, "Zoom" > Zoom to, 120, , "120%", "100%" > Zoom to, 150, , "150%", "Zoom" + Show popup menu, "Zoom Menu""
Spacer12
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3standard_toolbar (1) .ini

[Status Toolbar.content]
Button0, "Done"="Focus next frame, , , "Done""
Progress1, 5
Button2, "Internet"="Edit site preferences, , , "Internet", "Internet""
Spacer3
Spacer4
Spacer5
Spacer6
Spacer7
Spacer8
Button9, "100%"="Zoom to, "100", , 100, "Zoom" > Zoom to, 120, , "120%", "100%" > Zoom to, 150, , "150%", "Zoom" + Show popup menu, "Zoom Menu""
Spacer10
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Something within this code is causing my statusbar text to read:

Done Completed request to my.opera.com *******

When 'Completed request to my.opera.com' ------------>this text should flash on showing all the different events it is performing, but when the webpage is finally loaded...it should then state:

Done

still trying_lol.JPG

I have been busy with life's real projects, but will try to catch_hookup with you on IM...smile

It appears that the 'Done' is remaining no matter what the browser is attempting to transmit: All the states after 'Done' are also remaining with text showing ***

statusbar text.JPG

This code seems to be the culprit causing the issues for moi...lol

[Status Toolbar.content]
Button0, "Done"="Focus next frame, , , "Done""

Hi m8,

Well I am not sure what is going on there as mine
will show the page information loading and then
disappear when its finished.
As for the the word "Done" I said in my last
post it was only for show so its stays there on
the left hand side all the time.
Or you could right click on the status bar
delete the Progress Status button already there,
then right click it again and select customise
go to the Button Tab - Status and drag
the word Progress Status to where it was
before.
Maybe different versions of the build
affect how it looks.

Hi blinky,

Well m8 it was good to finally chat with you live and in-person...Unfortunately my statusbar text issues (on the far left-hand side presists, but it must be something with what you kindly made mention of above...

I do not think that it is a issue being caused by the different weekly builds that we are using...I'm using 8238, and you are using 8265...or more members would have likely mentioned this...

I bet it is a Customize setup issue (that I may not be doing correctly...lol) But I have tried everything and the text for the 'Progress status' remains...

Customize_Buttons.JPG
Status field.JPG
statusbar text issues.JPG

I have faith that this 'minor issue' for moi will be rectified, but it is killin moi...lol
What I'm going to do is start with another 'fresh install' of Opera 9 weekly build 8238, as I am now thinking that I never had the:
Progress status option put within the default Opera standard_toolbar (1).ini...who knows will give_it_a_go...lol

lol...going stir crazy m8...as this is the default Opera standard_toolbar (1).ini where I have dragged the Progress status button to the statusbar...and it too is doing the same thing...so I apparently am missing 'understanding something about the dam Opera customization here...'
check_this_out.JPG

I'm now going to try a complete fresh install of O9 TP2 build 8212...as I can't see this would make a difference, as I checked on the 'Known issues' for build 8238...lol

Unfortunately weekly_build 8265 had 'Known issues' that drove me batty:

Text may be misaligned on buttons.
Self closing (non-script) tags may break the layout.
Some pages may have unexpected linebreaks.

The plot thickens...lol as it has to a Advanced setting that I do not have either disabled or enabled...
Here is a fresh install of O9 TP2 build 8212, and when I drag the 'Progress status button' onto the far left part of the statusbar, the dam text remains...!

Hello blinkybill,

Ok mate, I sent a PM to sgunhouse (Moderator & friend) and he too reports that the 'Progress status' text remains, (just like what is happening to me, and he is using Breeze skin) so we know that this issue occurs with Opera 9 TP2 build 8212 & Opera 9 weekly_build 8238...

So I'm going to now install Opera 9 weekly_build 8265 (fresh install) as this is build that you are currently utilizing, which is not giving you the issue, where the Progress status text remains... Will post back here shortly with the results...lol

Fresh install of weekly_build 8265, and Progress status text remains...lol (Unless, this is a beta issue, this may be how this darn button is suppose to display...)

Hi m8,

That is a real mystery as once the page has loaded the text is gone.
Maybe try deleting the Progress Status button and make sure there
is nothing else in there as I found I had quite a few extra ones
in there I didnt know were there. But definitely on this new skin
there shouldnt be anything there as I deleted everything out.

P.S. I noticed your last ss your not using IE 7 skin?.
