Full compatibility with Outlook Web App
I am stuck with OWA for mail from multiple employers (adjunct professor at a variety of schools). I need to check several of them daily, and they don't allow stand-alone clients (like Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Opera Mail, etc.)However, since using Opera (which I otherwise really love) I am stuck with the "Outlook Web App Light" which is dreadful. It's like using the mail section of Netscape 2.0, only worse. I do realize that MS can be intractable on these issues, but certainly Opera could work towards resolving this?
As much as I love Opera, this is awfully close to a deal-breaker.
site preferences -> mask as firefox -> done

I saw that tip here when I first started with Opera. Sadly, while ID as Firefox (or IE, for that matter) seems to fool many sites, it does not work for Outlook Web App from any of the sources where I use it. I've changed the settings, restarted Opera, restarted the computer, nuthin'. There is something in the browser (I have been told by my uni IT folks) that OWA looks for regardless of ID.... Thanks for the reply, though!
strange, it worked for me with my company's OWA
PS: maybe you tried "itentify as firefox"? I tried with "mask as firefox".

I tried via both a Pop-up button and the Advanced>Content>Site Prefs, to no avail. If I know MS at all, it is possible that different enterprise installs are different (versions, configs, etc.) Although, I did go back and check when I saw your reply, and it seems that Opera will not retain the setting for "Mask as..." but defaults back to "Identify as..." That may be some completely different issue which I'll look into.
I'll comment back if I get it solved, but even if I do find some arcane workaround, it begs the question of why one should have to.... Outlook, for better or worse (and I tend to opt for the latter) is a fact of life for an awful lot of people and companies. It seems to me that if Opera wants to really play in the market, it should work with Outlook right out of the box.

If masking as Firefox solves the problem, then it's no Opera problem. In both cases, Opera will display the site as received by the server. The only thing that's different is: When masking as Firefox, the Server thinks, the client requesting the site is Firefox instead of Opera. The problem is, that Microsoft's web designers are lazy/stupid/ignorant.

Perhaps, and in the case of M$, I'm certainly not going to leap to their defense! Nevertheless, the question is what the difference is. Does Outlook not display with Opera because MS has to make it work, or because Opera has to make it work?
In any case, I can't confirm that masking DOES work, because Opera will not "mask as" anything, but defaults right back to "ID as," which I can definitely say does NOT solve the problem, leaving me still unable to correctly use the Outlook I am required to use if I use Opera....
Hi, Square One, good to see you again!

Hello
I have the same problem with opera and microsoft outlook web app.
Light version of outlook web app work's fine in opera, but full version doesn't work at all.
I have tried to mask as firefox, IE...
For example, if I mask as firefox, opera open full version of web app, but web app shows errors and it doesn't work at all. I need a full version because of a microsoft lync integrated with owa.
People say that problem is with active X, but I don't know how to make opera use it.

This is pretty much exactly my experience. I suppose I'll have to keep FF or Safari around just for this. I don't even mind that much having a different app for my uni mail, but I started using Opera because both FF & Safari have gotten painfully slow, and tend to drag the whole system down. :\ Maybe I'll have to find yet ANOTHER browser for OWA! LOL
My problem is quite big because most of users use opera and they won't be happy if I tell them to use firefox.
Luckily, I can live without lync for about a month and I would be the happyest person in the world if I find a solution for the problem in shortest possible time.

Well, it's hardly an ideal solution for me, either! I'm glad I don't have a whole raft of clients/users to worry about. I do hope the folks at Opera dev are watching these threads, though.....
Mask as Firefox allows me to bring up the full web app.
However, it doesn't work properly:
Search fails with an "Unexpected error".
The same error appears if I scroll down too much in the Inbox.
The update of new mail is unreliable - sometime I see messages on my Blackberry and nothing will have appeared in OWA for 30 mins and I have to log out and in again.

awesome, I distinctly remember making a post here (and opti giving an answer to that), but now both are just gone as if they never existed (if the mods delete something they normally replace the message with some "removed due to terms of use breach") ô_0
