Unjust labelling of e-mails as "spam"

Hello,

The spam-filter is putting e-mails in the spam-box that I do not expect to be there at all. For example, today I sent an e-mail to someone. He replied from his work e-mail address which is helpdesk@something.be. This e-mail got labelled as spam. Also I tried to reset some password to an account of a website, it got labelled as spam numerous times (different e-mails have, because I sent an e-mail to support too) even after moving the original e-mails to my inbox.

There should be a "this is not spam!" button which instantly 'whitelists' the e-mail address and/or domain they're coming from. While you're at it, a "move to spam, blacklist domain"-button would be great too.

But yea, the spam filter needs work (I'm very certain this is being worked on)

Assuming this is on mail.opera.com, The "Move to Inbox" button will mark the messages as not spam and gradually learn from this over time as you do it on many messages. There's an opposite "Mark as spam" button in Inbox which also contributes to the learning filter sherlock

Our Desktop mail client has similar Spam/Not spam button that it also learns from.

Yea, it was on mail.opera.com. Though, I don't see how the system can learn to not bin legitimate e-mails (coming from a lot of different e-mail addresses) because the different e-mails are in no way related. I understand that moving e-mails from to inbox from the same source will tell the system 'oh hey guys, the user actually wants these mails', but what if they're not related at all?

These e-mails shouldn't have been listed as spam in the first place, because they were genuine e-mails sent by genuine people. There are no indications that these are spam. In my opinion, I shouldn't have to tell the system that something legitimate isn't spam.

The only reason I can come up that could indicate spam is that the e-mails were sent from e-mail addresses that are completely unknown to the system, so therefore they could be spam. But even this shouldn't happen. So yea, quite confused about this.

The system can learn from seemingly independent legitimate e-mails. It may not sound intuitive, but it actually does, based on statistical filtering of the entire content smile

If you have a look at the raw/full message (from the More.. menu) you can check the "X-Spam-hits" header for hints about why it was mistaken for spam. One reason could be that they have been sent from an IP address known for sending spam: The user or a previous user of the same IP may have malware installed.

I'm still kind of missing an option to specify some filters manually. For example it would be nice if I could define all messages coming from one source as spam.

@serola you can at least filter all messages from one source to the spam folder now (Settings -> Rules)

Ok, thanks, I didn't notice that up I guess it is a new feature since I don't recall seeing it there before.
