Which one of these is your main Linux desktop? You could provide some arguments for your choice, also there is an "Other/Specify" option

Anyone using some flavour of the above (e.g. Kubuntu) shoud not choose Other

This poll is a multiple choice answer, so if you have two (or more) computers using different Linuxes choose them both.

I use Suse from time to time, it's the only one i've tried so far but looking forward on testing Ubuntu, Gentoo and Debian.

But isn't Ubuntu (and Kubuntu) a Debian distro?
Yes it is a Debian based distribution but it's "marketed" under a different name and by a different company.

SuSe 10 with KDE updated to 3.5.1. I find it a full feature and well rounded distro. YAST makes some things pretty simple, although it is a hefty app if your running older hardware for sure. You can always do things from command line if you prefer. KDE itself runs fine even on my old k6-2 450 with 256MB RAM.

16% Mandrake
14% SuSE
16% Fedora
33% Ubuntu
2% Slackware
7% Red Hat
10% Gentoo
16% Debian
0% DSL
9% Other/Specify
In total that is 123%, which sounds like a very nice number for Linux adoption

And the result bar doesn't show any difference between 16% and 33%.
And as for the result bar not being different between 16 and 33%, have you tried a refresh?

And as for Konqueror and Safari they use the same rendering engine (KHTML, afaik) so no wonder they look the same.

I am using Gentoo. Have tried Fedora with the Gnome DM, but didn't find it to my liking. I also briefly tried Suse. I found it somewhat difficult to customise - e.g. how do you add apllications if they're not on the CDs? Other than that I liked Suse as a distribution - very nicely polished and stable on my old machine, but it has some bloat since it's based on binaries.
Gentoo is the most customisable by the end user system that I have used so far. That's mainly why I like it.

Yes, its KDE, but its fast enough... it'll beat w2k on the same machine!!!

You're right about Safari and Konqueror, my bad for being ignorant :|
And as for Suse, it has YaST to handle installs.

But really, this whole thread would be better in the Off-topic/Linux forum (since it isn't about Opera). We're a bit more lax here than in the Windows-related forums, but I'm not doing my job if I don't say that. (Too bad in the new forums I can't move threads to the Lounge, my only options are to leave it where it is, close it, or delete it.)
Sorry for posting in the wrong forums, it was a n00bish mistake

The old forum - prior to last September - had no "groups", so things could be moved anywhere.
Surprisingly, if I split the thread, I can put the new thread anywhere - even into groups that I'm not a moderator of.

If you want I could help you out here. I'll just make some extremely rude and antagonistic comments about some of the distros that have been mentioned, and then back it up with some more incredibly offensive slander (and a few personal attacks while I'm at it for good measure). Then you can split off that part, move it to D&D, and then port the remaining thread to Community.
