Where is the comment form of my posts?
I can't see the comment form in some posts of my blog (e.g. http://my.opera.com/rafaelluik/blog/2011/10/14/two-unearned-iphone-merits), even in some posts that already have some (http://my.opera.com/rafaelluik/blog/2011/09/10/speed-dial-2-0-the-big-fish-show-off-some-teeth), but I can see in others! Is My Opera under a technical problem right now? Because I haven't opted to close the comments on these posts...

The good keen man Raphael, of course, didn't wait.
)In my case, the posts that were on the first page of my blog retained the commenting facility. But those not in the first page had no comment form at the bottom. I had per page posts set to 6. When I noticed the issue, I thought I might be able to rectify it by increasing the per page posts number. But despite increasing per page posts to 10, the posts 7 and later were, and still are, missing the commenting facility.

I wonder if community developers were planning to implement per post

So is Mette.
Mette's blog:
http://my.opera.com/Pusilille/blog/
I have a friends only post where comments can be made but another friends only post the comment box is gone. Then another post I made friends only then changed to private the box was gone but stayed gone after putting it back to friends only.
I have clicked edit on each post and do not see where it has access rights.
All I see is:
Post settings:
Notify me about new comments Sticky Disable smilies
and the Notify me about new comments is checked.
I agree with mimi_s_mum, something backfired.
Is there another place to check the settings? I looked under account and Privacy & password and also under Blog settings.
I have:
Default post access:
Public
Allow comments?
Yes
Allow anonymous comments
Yes
I do not know of any settings where you can allow no comments on one post only.
Help please.
Thank you.

Confused, how can one do that? Do not see where or how.
We're trying out a new way to combat comment-spam, which involves automatically disabling comments 30 days after the last comment was added to a blog post. We're working on improving this, mainly in two ways:
1. Making it optional, so you can choose if you still want to receive comments to blog posts regardless of how long ago the last comment was added.
2. Showing a text like "Comments disabled for this post" instead of the comment-form when comments have been disabled.
We would have liked to have these last two things ready before we released this feature, but due to the amount of spam recently we felt a need to get it out ASAP. We're prioritizing getting those last two features ready now, so hopefully you'll be able to disable this soon, if you want to.

And please let friends comment at each other's blog without any limitation. Some of my friends are having a long breaks from blogging. They would not know their friend no longer could comment at their blog.
One thing that puzzles me, though, is the discrepancy in handling the comment privilege setting. Why can we not have per post comment setting, like we have per photo album comment setting? If we had the ability to set who can comment per post, then we can implement our own limitation according to how bad comment spam attacks are, without community wide measures such as this one. Wouldn't it be easier for you developers, too?

3. "Comment waiting for approval" system might also be a good idea.
Hopefully, sticky posts should default to allowing comments - at least, that seems reasonable to me.
As far as #3 ... wouldn't help much on the "I saw your profile" type scammers - you know "contact me at my email address and I'll send you photos and other details". Since the only person those scammers are concerned about seeing their post is the blog owner, they are still reaching their target audience. No idea whether we get more of those or actual spam (where they want the general public to be able to see it) ...

To keep the old friend or give some bloggers who come back after a long time without logging in a chance to post on their friend's old topic may be needed.

The idea is a good one if you also put a caveat allowing a potential commentator the possibility of informing the owner of the blog the comment box is null. Maybe allowing it to be opened for further discussion.
Some Forums move the blog thread up to the front page when a new comment occurs. (I'm thinking Project Beehive -home forum:
Teh Forum (NSFW) but it also occurs in Usenet so the idea isn't all that new.) Why not bump the thread rather than signal a new subscription with a red flag?

I've only had a couple of people post spam on my blog. Then again, if someone does I can ban them - so either way I'd set all my posts to allow anyone to comment at any time. I know from seeing the reports that some of you do attract a lot more readers - and spammers - than I do ...

Who are you to dictate what Opera should be doing about spam? YOU are not the one who has to spend money on keeping the site spam free. YOU want Opera to waste lots of money just because you say so?
If you want it done differently, pay for the "real spam protection" yourself!

Calm down, he isn't dictating anything, is he? And of course there are options in trying to tackle the spam issue.

I don't remember ever getting spam on my blog, but I see some spam on Opera News and other official blogs and it's easily detectable (aways the same comment content)... Shouldn't be easy to block those? Millions in cash aren't needed ok?

Yes, true. Why doesn't Opera just blacklist those fake websites, only the ones which are used in 80% of comments marked spam???
