Opera Mobile 12 for Symbian/S60 - update 1

It's been a little over a week, and our users - yes, you guys - have given us great feedback! We have spent all this time fixing bugs and improving Opera Mobile 12.

Fixes:
  • Fixed crash when logging into Twitter
  • Fixed bug with web forms auto-submission
  • Fixed HTML5 audio/video tags support (now we score 319 + 9 bonus points on http://html5test.com)
  • Improved performance of zooming animations and general responsiveness during page loading
  • Fixed a number of startup/shutdown crashes
  • Changes for font size in opera:config can now be saved (the rest works already)

Known issues
  • RTL is not fully supported in input fields
  • Keypad navigation issues on touch devices with QWERTY keyboard
  • Using FontZoomer to render your fonts can crash under certain circumstances. This is also an issue with the Nokia browser when visiting Hindi sites. We are communicating with them and hopefully it will be fixed on their end.

To download Opera Mobile visit http://m.opera.com on your phone.

Please report any bugs in our bug report wizard. Thanks!

Enjoy! smile

The S60 Team

Thank you, Opera, for the update. I'm, shall we say, an "older" Opera Mobile user. The first thing I do to Opera Mobile, when I install it on my phone is to bump up the minimum font size. This latest version now retains my setting, after I close Opera Mobile out.

Truly, Opera Mobile and Opera Mini are the best mobile browsers available.

Many thanks for the frequent - and feature-rich - updates.

When I am trying to edit a textarea with long text, Opera Mobile is freezing and it responds very very slowly especially when pressing keyboard buttons. Nokia 603, Belle OS. I think some other users experienced this issue on Opera Mobile 11.5 and various symbian versions and Nokia phones.

i have Nokia E71 and tried to run opera mobile 12 and opera mini 6.5, both failed. Installation is OK. I tried installation direct from http://m.opera.com/ and offline installation from memory card, both are no problem.

Before this I use earlier version of opera mobile and opera mini, I was very satisfied and felt so happy. When I upgrade them to the latest version, they are no longer accessible. The icons is there but cannot run the program. Now my phone have no browser except the Nokia's.

Some info about my phone :
*#0000#
410.21.010
08-02-2010
RM-346
Nokia E71-1(26)

Anybody have the solution for my problem, please. I really like Opera and have been using it since 1998 till now in my PC, laptop, other phone and my netbook.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear that you have problems with Opera and your phone.

The E71 we have in the office had version
300.21.012
18-06-2009
but we have not experienced any similar problems as you describe on this firmware version.

I upgraded to
501.21.001
10-08-2010
and Installation of Opera on this phone works fine too.

Perhaps you could try doing a backup of your phone and see if there's any upgrades available with Nokia Suite and see if it helps?

Hi!

I have a Nokia 5800 XM with latest fw. I have just installed Opera Mobile 12 over my previous v11.50.1947 install.
As a result it removed all of my search engines except for google. It is quite a frustrating problem.
I tried reinstalling version 11.50 but that only erased all my dialler links as well.

Is there a way to get my search engines back without adding them one-by-one again?

I have a Nokia E7 and just updated to version 12 from 11. Now all my bookmarks are gone as well as the links on the start page! I had lots of links and would really hate to lose all those bookmarks.
