Dad shoot daughter's laptop for badmouthing about her parents on Facebook

Link to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl1ujzRidmU

In my opinion. BOTH the dad and the daughter was wrong. The daughter for bad mouthing, swearing, and ranting about her parents on Facebook. And the dad for posting and embarrassing the daughter on YouTube, which is tons word than Facebook. The dad embarrassed the daugher worse than she could possible do on Facebook. Furthermore, if even half of the things the daugher ranted about was true (she have to clean up after him when he walks in with muddy shoes, she does all the chores while he does nothing, etc), the dad is way overboard.

Do you think what the dad did is right or is he way overboard?

I don't drink either. Doesn't matter. No beer = invalid poll. This is D&D. We debate a lot of stuff here and you have to be really liquored up to tolerate most of it.

I've seen this video before. Guess what? Kids have been badmouthing their parents probably since the days of Homo Erectus (at least.) It's part of the teenage rebellion, as you become your own person, separate from your parents. They guy needs to grow up. himself though. Besides, now she just needs to go the library to badmouth him on Facebook. Now the genius is not only out all that money he spent on upgrades, but didn't accomplish a damn thing. Ban her from the library? Ok, she'll just use her friends' phone. This would seem to leave talking to her to find out why she feels this way and work it out as the only viable option.

Agree, this is not about "Dad shoot daughter's laptop for badmouthing about her parents on Facebook" but about Dad's five minutes of fame at Youtube, even for such a stupidity.

Terrible way to discipline your daughter, great way to embarrass her. Vive la YouTube!

Selling the laptop may be better financially for the parent, but destroying it may be more satisfying.

That video isn't enough evidence to decide who is in the wrong. But if one assumes the father is representing accurately then the father has reason to take away privileges such as a laptop.

I can see why you would say that, but I still say that what she did on Facebook is merely a continuation of behavior that's been going on since the dawn of humanity and will continue until its sunset. Kids will always talk shit about their parents, rather through an electronic medium or spreading it through their friends at school. Yes, that means Tommy (the dad) talked shit about his parents, too. The fact that he left home so young indicates that, among other things, he likely talked mad shit about his; you don't leave home that young if things are going right.

When I saw this about 4 months ago, I thought the same. The dad is obviously a loner, and the kid was just a pawn played in all of this.

This folks is a great example of poor parenting. Not saying it was right of the daughter to say what she said online but most every teenager goes through the rebellious stage. Two wrongs don't make a right! A good parent would sit down with their children and talk about such issues instead of making a video for the world to see. I bet you can add embarrassing her on you tube to that list.

Also, I'd be damned if I made my children make my coffee.....just saying.

This could be an example of an "emotionally unstable" person I was talking about in the gun control thread. Good thing that wasn't his daughter.... knockout
