Reply from same address as email came to

Hello,

I have multiple accounts set up in Opera Mail, and I was wondering if there's a way to make it automatically choose a reply-from address based on the address to which the email originally came?

Thanks,

WPB

Opera already does this.

But, if you're talking about multiple identities/personas/aliases for the same account, Opera doesn't support that.

I don't think it does it properly. I have a Yahoo account set up to automatically forward to another email account, which is the one I connect to (via IMAP) using Opera Mail.

So I see Joe sent me an email to my_email@yahoo.com. This was automatically forwarded to my_real_email@my_provider.com.

I connect to my_provider.com's IMAP server and look at my mail. When I click reply to Joe's email, Opera doesn't choose the my_email@yahoo.com account to send from (even though it's set up); it chooses the my_real_email@my_provider.com account. That's not what I want, and probably isn't what most people would want.

I'd like to see this fixed, but despite this and other minor niggles, I still find Opera Mail to be an excellent mail client. And I've used a lot wink

Right. When you reply to a message, the from drop-down in the compose tab will default to the account *in Opera* that *received* the message. It doesn't matter if the To header in the message was for one of your other accounts that you have set up in Opera. Opera doesn't support a "send mail as" feature like mail.google.com. But, if Opera supported identities and such, you'd get support for this too.

The way it is now, each set of outgoing server settings are tied to a single account.

Understood perfectly. Opera just doesn't support these things yet, sorry. It's known very well by the Opera devs that people want this.

Okay, got it. Glad it's known that this feature is missing.

It seems to me that it could be implemented independently of identities, if Opera Mail just examined the "To:" field and tried to match against email addresses in current accounts, that would do it, wouldn't it?

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

Yeh, it could. You can make a wish in the wish-list forum if you want.
