focus feature or bug

When I type "i" in the email list, to view the content, focus is always on the last content viewed, or the last item in the list that had focus. This is most annoying, and frequently meant I mis-marked things as read or deleted them. Pressing TAB to activate the list window, and then using the keys to put focus back on the email I want to deal with, is also annoying.

I have had Opera for years and years. Through all these upgrades, I would have thought control of the active window and the record pointers, or whatever they are, would be elementary for the developers. I am looking into alternative softwares at this point. As a developer myself, it is too embarrassing to use such a clumsy tool.

Other than that, I have always though opera was better than anything else, and I've never had problems with virus attacks when using it (unlike, say, Outlook).

You could always do it yourself, you know. You can edit hotkeys.

Alternatively, double-clicking on a specific message (or pressing Enter when that message is highlighted) will open a message-reading window in a new tab.

Is this something that has always happened in Opera or just something new? Info? (I don't use i much, so wouldn't know.)

Did you try 11.62 final and the latest 12 builds at <http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/> in a standalone installation (do not import, setup the account fresh) to see if you can still reproduce the problem?

What should Opera do in your opinion? It seems to work like I'd expect, I think. Can you list the exact steps you use to focus the mail panel, open a view, focus the list or message etc. before you press 'i' so I'm on the same page?
