Disguise Opera on the other browser ...

Hi all!
I found the settings of the Opera mask function under a different browser such as Firefox.
However, this function changes require include for each site individually by hand.

The question is, how to make this option is valid for all sites, rather than specific?

Go to opera:config and change the setting. Default is 1 (=Opera). For others click on the '?' button.

Thank you! And in "Settings" menu that can be done?

It would be very nice if the developers are doing such a function in the next version!

They removed it on purpose. You are not supposed to use it for all sites.

Chris/Slamdex is right. Masking or IDing as another browser can also break pages.

If a major site works better when IDed/Masked as another browser, it is often automatically implemented by the browser.js. Browser.js is updated more frequently than new browser version release, and can quickly address issues related to site change. You can follow the Site Patching team's blog and give feedback for better site compatibility: http://my.opera.com/sitepatching/blog/

I thought that it was done by override_downloaded.ini.

You're right, LeoCG. Thanks for correcting me. smile

So, if a major site works better when IDed/Masked as another browser, it is often automatically implemented by the override_downloaded.ini, which is regularly checked and update. Right?

No, it's not. You should be grateful that you have this option and that Opera allows you to visit all sites pretending that you are *not* using Opera. Sometimes I wish Opera would not be so modest and would promote their fine product more aggressively. Most sites work fine with Opera and I see no reason to hide the fact that you are using Opera.

I am grateful to the developers for it. But often the sites and hackers to exploit vulnerabilities and attacks aimed specifically at the Opera browser. Masking browser can help my safety.

Could you please name some exploits aimed specifically at Opera???

That is a false presumption.
Exploits don't make browser sniffing smile If the browser is vulnerable they might work otherwise they don't.
Just that simple.
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.
It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

You still can change Opera to identify as some other browser easily (on all websites), even without going to the preferences:
Click on toolbar and "Customize appearance", go to the "Buttons" tab:
You have 2 options:
Under "Status" you could add the button "Identify as" (Which will change the browser every time you click on it, my preferred option).

You have the same functionality under "Preferences" (Still in the Customize appearance" view!):
There is a drop down box "Identify as Opera" which you can also add to you address or any other toolbar.
I am using Version 11.62, so Opera did not at all remove the feature :-)

Once you have added the button you want to the toolbar you are only 1 or 2 clicks away from masking [EDIT] I should say identify, masking was not correct [edit end] Opera as another browser :-)

Identify (from button) is not the same as Mask(from preferences) !
Mask doesn't include Opera at all in the browser id.

True, I forgot that it still send the Opera name along with it (When selecting "Identify as...").
But if sasha-rus is interested what he has highlighted in the screenshot, "identify" seems to do him as well :-)
