Where are autoupdate preferences and manual update on Opera 11.6x for Mac?
Hi there,I'm using Opera 11.62 for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and I can't find autoupdate preferences or a manual update option anywhere. I already checked on Opera Help website. Autoupdate preferences should be in Preferences -> Advanced -> Security, but there's nothing related to updates there!
No Manual Update option in Opera menu either.
Am I missing something?
regards,
w.

Have you got any idea?
Thank you
First, I think that aderoy misunderstood your question and told you how to update your OS from Apple.
In regards to your question about configuring Opera's update preferences: first, I am running OS X 10.6.8
with Opera 11.62, Build 1347. The update preferences for me are right where they documented as being:
Preferences -> Advanced ->Security The last option on the window is "Auto-update" with the three options being
"Do not check for updates", "Notify me about available updates", and "Automatically install updates".
I have no explanation as to why you can't find this option. We are running different versions of OS X(?)
Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful, but the updates preferences are there for me with Snow Leopard.

Not sure about that, have you checked? This is where manual update requests to Opera are launched - reason why it was under the 'Opera' menu and not System Preference. Verified on Mac OSX 10.6.8 and 10.7
Of course you are correct as to the Opera | Perferences | Advanced | Security menu setting for update notifications settings. Forgotten about that setting, left at default from installation and never had to revisit.
Thank you for pointing it out.

Sorry, I misread your post and read it as the second menu item under the Apple icon which is "Software Update".
The second menu item under the Opera menu is indeed "Check for updates".
Thanks for checking this out on 10.7 I was hesitant to reply at first since the original poster is running a different version of the OS
than me.
Hint: Check your user agent string in opera:about and see whether you encounter the substring "Mac App Store Edition".

How can I do a COMPLETE uninstall and cleanup of all configuration files?
Thank you very much for your help!!

I think the easiest solution is to back up your data to the cloud using Opera Link. Then download AppCleaner and select Opera from the list of applications. This handy tool will help you to delete every preferences file, log file, etc. related to Opera. Now you will be able to perform a clean install. After you have reinstalled Opera (either from a disk image or from Mac App Store), you can sync back your data by signing into Opera Link.
You can get the regular version of Opera from http://www.opera.com/browser/download/ but you will also need to delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Opera/custom/ folder to fully remove the Mac App Store edition.
