Trouble with cookie corruption
I have been having an increasing problem with cookies apparently becoming corrupted. That is, when a website begins to misbehave, especially when logging in, I delete it's cookie and things are OK of a month or 2, then it starts again. For example, Netflix, website started asking me to log in with each turn of a page, deleting the cookie and logging back in with the username and password fixed it for a while. A similar thing happens with DishNetworks's Dish-on-line website (of course this website is kind of ditsy by nature anyway). Anybody have any insight to this?Michael

No. But, to rule out problems with Opera's files, close down Opera and delete cookies4.dat in the preferences directory.
What do you have the global cookie settings set to? Do you use any site preferences where you change the cookie setting to something different than the default?
If you have site preferences that you feel might be messed up, delete override.ini too. For passwords, you can delete wand.dat.
You could delete the cache, opcachea and temporary_download folders in Opera Local Directory too.
When this happens, does changing "ctrl + F12 -> advanced -> history -> check documents" to "always" help?
Do you have the disk cache disabled? (that can sometimes cause weird problems)
Any extensions installed?
Do you make use of the content blocker? Do you sync it with Opera Link? Do you sync your passwords with Opera Link too?
I do NOT use link, cookies are set to accept all globally, cache is automatic and set to 5 Mb. I now changed check documents to always. I'll see what happens now and use your post to check other items one at a time to see what works. I don't like deleting wand as I use it a lot, however, I am in the process of moving all passwords to KeePass, which really works well.
Thanks for the reply!

Change it back though if it doesn't help.
I dumped the cache and also temp downloads, only two download files. What would be the next change you would recommend? Is there a priority order for the remainder of changes?

No priority really. Just things you can try.
You could instead just try a standalone installation to see if you can reproduce the problem in it. If you can't (I understand it might take a while to figure out whether you can or not), then that implies there's something messed up with your regular profile.
Thanks burnout426, you certainly are a helpful poster and I appreciate it. I had posted a while back about a problem with "rightnow" chat sites the posting is at: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=11778482 Do you have any comments on the post?
