Opera 12 partly ignores logitech setpoint
- logitech mouse
- using setpoint to change behavior of some buttons
- specifically on MX518 I use the button for lowering mouses DPI as a middle mouse button
- no problem in any other browser or opera 11.62, or other software (except damn linux where logitech dont have setpoint)
- opera 12 knows that the button is set to work as a middle mouse click, but it also lowers the dpi when I click it
- if I set button that rises dpi to 'do nothing'. It will still rise the dpi when in opera 12
Must be related to hardware acceleration ... as a test go into opera:config#accel and disable acceleration, then click on Save. You will probably have to restart Opera for the change to take effect. Then see how your mouse works.
Then file a report on the Bug Tracker with your results.

I have the same problem. Hope this gets fixed soon, as using the customized buttons in SetPoint is a big part of my workflow.
I have the same problem - the middle mouse button (click the scroll wheel) is playing an important part in my workflow - opera changing its behaviour without letting me choose to revert to the default behaviour is a real bumper.
the topic is also discussed here:

and the bug that opera ignores the logitech setpoint settings - and also the logitech mouseware settings (I still use mouseware because my mouse is older) is filed in bug DSK-358405
please change it soon - otherwise I get really unhappy with opera!

You can solve this by disbaling game detection in setpoint settings.

I have the same issues, and disabling game detection does *not* work.
Two issues:
1. Mouse speed/acceleration settings ignored/overridden by opera 12
2. Mouse button actions ignored/overridden by opera 12
Disabling game detection fixed the mouse speed/acceleration issue, BUUUT my 3rd mouse button still doesn't work!
I have my 3rd button assigned to double-click, and it still works fine for all other windows windows. But in Opera 3rd button switches to "Back Page" function.
Why is opera overriding my mouse preference anyway? I setup my mouse the way I want it using standard windows mouse control panel. Opera should just leave it be the way I want it!

I don't mean to sound degrading, but the need of 3 threads might be appropriate ... it's a bit difficult to understand why opera 12 isn't working right with logitech setpoint.
Actually, I don't understand why opera team is having that of a hard time to devellop build that works right with what was previously working and also the compatibility with webpage that is often sketchy.
Honestly, I was an opera user since the 9 versions and I must admit that I am unhappy with opera. I like every functions of it. I customize my other browsers (chrome or firefox) just like opera, but extensions aren't as complete as built-in functions of opera.
But you almost never face the kind of bugs that frequently pops it opera ... and I've reported a lot of them and I'm getting tired. Sorry...

Hi all,
I had the same problem with the Logitech MX mouse and Opera 12 and I think I've found a solution. Well, still for my case.
First of all, it all worked just fine before I upgraded to Windows 8 version from version 7.
At the same time my Opera Mail stopped functioning telling something like the process in use by another user. It did start up but did not show up any mail button and I also could not create any new mail account.
So two issues after the Windows 8 upgrade... Mouse buttons and Opera Mail.
I solved the mail issue by setting the default preferences in opera.exe shortcut to 'always run in administrator mode' and it helped, but it still ignored the mouse buttons set up by SetPoint.
I've tried disabling the gaming mode in SetPoint settings and many other things but it still didn't work.
Then suddenly I noticed two usernames folders in C:\Users\ and one of them contained only the \AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\mail\ folder with all the files in it. This was actually my old mail database that did not want to start.
I checked the preferences in Help -> About Opera.. to find out that my mail storage directory is different from the rest of the stuff like cache, prefs, bookmarks, etc. It meant that I installed new Windows 8 with the different user name than I used in Windows 7. After the installation it moved all my files to new folder but somehow ignored the mail storage folder. That is why I had two user names folders in C:\Users. So I moved the mail storage folder to the appropriate one and changed the settings in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\operaprefs.ini under the [Mail] section to show the correct path.
After that I disabled 'run in administrator mode' checkbox in the shortcut setting. Opera started fine and to my surprise the mouse buttons started working like they are set in SetPoint.
I don't know what's the connection between Opera Mail, mouse button setup and Administrator mode but I assume that has something to do with it for sure. Yet I got the issue solved and would recommend to check everything I mentioned above.
