[Bug] Opera crash on start without error message
Hello,First: I am on Windows 7 64bits (French)
I have installed an update for my opera browser this morning, and from this point it was not possible for me to lunch opera..
I start opera a black window appears and after less than 1s disappears again.. In the task manager the same thing happens, the opera process appears and 1s later is gone again, and this without any error message...
Is this a know bug, or has there been a problem with the update?
Is it possible to reinstall opera without loosing all the configuration / bookmarks / passwords etc?

Opera's config files are stored in the user directory, so yes, reinstalling will not be the cause of data loss.
You can also try to launch Opera from the command line and check if there is any output that could be helpful.
1. Start cmd.exe.
2. Go into Opera's installation directory:
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera"
3. Start Opera by typing "opera.exe".
It should be possible to edit the Windows registry so Opera won't detect that it's already installed. I don't know how to do this, though.
It could also be a problem with your profile. Rename the Opera directory in "C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\" to something else and check if Opera works. Do not delete it, because it contains all of your settings, bookmarks, ...

You could try a websearch to find out which entries in the registry Opera's setup creates and delete them (backing up the registry before you try anything is highly recommended). This should allow you to reinstall Opera. You can access the registry with regedit.exe.

I suggest using the USB install and installing Opera in a new folder. It keeps your profile in the Opera installation folder and is much easier to manage.

Actually I changed the name of opera in my Program Files folder. By doing this I was able not to uninstall opera but telling windows that opera is uninstalled (trough the configuration panel -> programs -> uninstall opera -> yes opera is uninstall).
After that I was able to install opera and every things look fine again. Not the cleanest way but it worked. Thanks for your help.
