Support for WebP Images
I can upload WebP images to my files and I can add them to a Photo Album too, but they will not display. It would be nice if we can upload WebP images with the *.webp extension too, and have them dsiplay in photo albums.

No, its a webp image with a jpg extension.
What I am saying is that the images do not show up in a PhotoAlbum. Its not possible to upload them without renaming them with a JPG extension. I have recreated this album to demonstrate. Three WebP images with JPG extension were uploaded successfully, using the keep original option. None of them show up.

Why is that if I highlight the small fraction of a reply I wish to quote the whole thing is quoted?
Be that as it may for whatever reason...
I am not using Turbo as it used to feck up all the damn time in the previous browser. Do I have to save the file as this new image or does WebP know what is supposed to be going on without my help? You know sort of like a computer is supposed to work in films and books.
If you use "Quote", it quotes everything. If you use Quick Quote, it only quotes the highlighted text. But note, Quote actually quotes the original while Quick Quote has to quote what's on your screen - meaning images, smilies and links look kind of strange if you don't edit them.
WebP is a format, it doesn't "know" anything. Do you see the image (actually Pesala's image) in my previous post? He says that's WebP, if you see it then it is working fine on your system. (And no, as I don't use Turbo obviously one doesn't have to enable it for WebP to work.)
I'd have to guess that the forum's tools know whether an image is really JPEG - maybe they are trying to read the camera data from the EXIF info - and so block it from the album once they realize it isn't. Neither here nor there per se. The Files section should accept anything except executables, movies, and certain archive formats (as listed in the TOS), and therefore should accept WebP as is. The albums need to be updated to accept WebP, seeing as the Opera browser was one of the leaders in supporting that format.
The browser used to properly identify mis-typed files (as in, BMP files with a JPG extension) and I gather they dropped this at some point ... inconvenient, but off-topic in this forum.

The uploader now warns me that I have tried to upload files of an invalid type. I guess that's an improvement, but it would still be much better if we could upload WebP images with a WebP extension. If I change the extension to *.jpg then I can upload the file, and the message says that the upload succeeded, but it doesn't display, and the album still contains no images.
WebP images are much smaller than JPG images of a similar quality.
