File Sharing not working

Hi all,

I am big fan of Opera and find the idea of the File Sharing service great. To my disappointment I haven't been able to successfully make it work outside my LAN. That means that when I send the link to people outside my LAN they never manage to establish a connection: server failure. That happens with any internet browser.

I even tried to open the default port (8840) in my router (2Wire) and allow incoming connections through it. No success either. I believe I must have missed something.

I am really looking forward to using this service and I would be immensely grateful if somebody could lead to the right direction.

Try connecting directly to the Internet (without router).
This way you can eliminate the router as the problem source.

Thanks for you reply bg-b. I am not sure I really understand what you mean... My internet connection is managed by a standard modem + router device given by my internet provider. Do you believe that's the problem? How can I solve it?
