Do you know where your profile is located? Delete your session file, that may allow Opera to start normally.

Next option would be to delete your preferences file operaprefs.ini - the option after that is to delete the entire profile, if there's nothing you need to save.

operaprefs.ini - is the only thing i'd like to save. if i delete all of this, i'll simply get a new installation.

If you change "Show Startup Dialog=0" to "Show Startup Dialog=1" in operaprefs.ini you should get the startup dialogue when you start Opera again, which may allow you to start it up.

Is this about Opera 12?
If so it should surely be in the Beta Testing forum.

does not help either. i zipped the directory, installed one more time and overwrited preferences, bookmarks etc. one or two times it gave me abovementioned error, then i deleted prefs, bookmarks etc and overwrited one more time. since then it does not crash.

I had this same problem in Opera v. 12.11.
Since we are running a virtualized terminal sever environment (Hyper-V on Server 2008 R2), where Opera is installed on a physical server, but run locally on each TS from a network share, and the problem occurred only with one single user, install/deinstall was not an option.

Deleting session files, profiles, etc. didn't work, but - surprisingly - a full reboot of the terminal server did the trick, and the user said that he could start Opera without any problems.

No clue what the underlying problem was, but I hope this helps ...
