Opera mini youtube

I tried watching videos on opera mini and all I get is
"The protocol used in vnd.youtube:eN7dYDYfvVg?
vndapp=youtube_mobile&vndclient=mv-google&vndel=watch is not supported"

Other times, it displays: "Connection Failed: Problem reading from server"

Is this an Opera mini problem?

1st is problem of Opera Mini. Opera Mini doesn't support youtube protocol.

2nd is problem of network. It says 'Connection Faild'.

Opera Mini CANNOT play YouTube videos like the Bolt browser (which is now dead). It relies on your phone to do that. Your phone plays YouTube videos using a stream protocol but I don't know the details.

Bolt really is good huhu... Opera lacks so many features... But when talking 'bout browsing, it's good but in surfing only... When you talk about downloading files, UCweb's the man!

i agree with you hugowafu, when downloading ucweb is number 1 and also ucweb can save .jar file..
I hope Opera can do it too

I have a hunch but I need some help. I have a Pandigital Supernova and cannot watch YouTube videos with Mini 7 or Mobile 12(more on that later). However I CAN watch them with the native browser and the YouTube app. With Mini I get the error "Connection Failed: Problem reading from server" and with Mobile I get the error "The protocol used in vnd.youtube:############?vndapp=youtube_mobile&vndclient=mv-google&vndel=watch is not supported." I also have a Samsung Galaxy Apollo. I just pulled it out, installed Mini 7, and tried playing a YouTube video. When I tried to launch a video a pop-up appeared telling me I had to agree to the m.google.com TOS [Accept] [Decline]. I accepted and it played that video and every other video I tried played without prompting.

More on Opera Mobile 12. I can switch the User Agent between 'Tablet' and 'Desktop.' When set to 'tablet' it loads m.youtube.com and I get the error. If I set it to 'Desktop' I can go to www.youtube.com and the videos will play.

Is the m.google.com TOS the missing link?

I don't think there is a site that I can access with mini. Other browsers work, but I can't get fanfiction.net. My only option is to download several pages beforehand, which screws me over if I forget a page.

You can't with Opera Mini. Plus Opera Mini IS using a proxy but some networks block Opera Mini completely.

Hi there! smurf

I recommend to you to watch YouTube videos with your preset browser (not OM) since these Opera Mini versions does not support watching YouTube vids:
3 (advanced and basic)
4.2
4.4
5
6.5
Next 7.0
These versions have no capability to watch Youtube videos because they don't have any attribute that could make them you view the vids.

I felt really sad for the whole BOLT Browser community because of the problems with regards to making the browser free to use.

Speaking of UC Web Browser's abilities, it's unreliable in terms of security and safety of personal matters online. It's also fabrique en chine. To see more about UC Web Browser's unreliability, see the darkwap.com's article about UC.

Thanks!

As mentioned above, no version of Opera Mini can play Youtube videos. Mini passes the function on to your phone's media player as it always has.

By the way, C3 has a capability to connect to WiFi, I recommend you to use a Wifi connection rather than GPRS. GPRS sucks WiFi rocks!

Well my problem is, that I was able to watch youtube videos using opera mini on iOS on my iPod Touch. But back then youtube looked ugly and not the same as using the built-in safari mobile browser. Thats why I changed the protocol settings from "HTTPS/socket" to "HTTPS" (or something like that). After doing this, youtube looked the same like using safari, but every time I want to play a video, it opens a black page with a play-button, but the only thing, that happens when tapping it is, that the site will reload … now I changed the protocol back again (at least I thought I did that) but it youtube doesnt change back, too!
Short Story:
I fucked it all up an dont know how to fix it …

I know, that opera mini doesnt play videos direct but opens a stream to the phones media-thing or somewhat like this.

If you have any suggestion about what to do, I would be happy!

Btw: sorry for my "simple" english, but Im coming from germany and still learning … bigsmile

You could be viewing youtube in desktop mode rather than mobile mode. When you're on youtube website, scroll all the way down to see if you're in Desktop or Mobile version. Also the URL for Mobile version should be m.youtube.com rather than youtube.com

Hope that helps?

Hmmm … well I tried to switch to the desktop version but then the real desktop version was displayed. When I switched back again the already known, not working mobile version was displayed again. But not the version I had before changing some settings. sad

This may sound a bit silly but it has solved a lot of iPod users with youtube not working:

From your iPod go to Settings > General > Date & Time > Make sure the date and time on your iPod is set correctly.

If you have youtube app. on your iPod and that doesn't work either, this link may help (obviously you'll have to watch this video from another source ie. your computer):

I checked date and time. They are set correctly. My youtube app is working. Safari also. Only OM has problems with playing videos. Maybe i should just reinstall it or wait till the next update comes out… thank you for your help, though!

Yup, sounds like problems with your OM. The latest one is OM 7.0.3, came out about a week ago, if you haven't updated already. You can always file a bug report, hopefully the next update will fix problems with youtube.

If you decide to reinstall, I recommend sync your bookmarks first.

i know j2me programming and its not so hard to edit so that it support .jar file download and opening native browser or media player on a particular link. and engneers who have made this great software ,cannot be so fool that they wud remove such function innocently without knowing what wud happen if they remove it..
its clear that they dont like J2me phones and youtube..
youtube, too, doesnt want such phones..
its seems that they r tired of opera mini and want to make it unpopular and then they wud close it..
what will be after we die?

Nope, not related. echo.opera.com does not detect 'vnd.google.gmm.3.0.0,application/
vnd.google.minitube.1.4.10,*/*' as in default browser but works anyway (sony j10i2 elm).

You lost me.

Clicking on a YouTube link inside Opera Mini version 7.0.3.40701 triggers a popup message informing me that RTPS not supported.

The Ipad used has YouTube application installed.

Why cannot Opera just open the YouTube application with the selected link? Seems like a simple task which Safari is able to do.
