Is that why you have scratches that never healed, Mr. Howie?

Worst break-up ever? I haven't had one that would be worth mentioning if nobody had asked. However:
She ruined my dinner. I was having dinner in the college fast food place.

We had been having difficulties. She said that fixing it up wasn't 100% on her, to which I immediately thought "duh, it's never 100% on one. The farther from 50/50 the harder it is to work out." I was kind of shocked that she would think me that stupid or insensitive, and didn't say anything for a few seconds as my mind whirled. Before I could gather my thoughts she said it was 100% on me. That was disappointing. I fell out of love when she said something so stupid. I had to throw away my french fries because I couldn't eat. I didn't feel nauseous, I just lost my appetite. And that was back in the days when I could joyously eat unlimited amounts of french fries.

Several years later, another gal ruined my meal by breaking up with me in the cafeteria. I wondered if there were a pattern there.

As for yours: had she told you that she was for you only?

If so, then she lied and deserved to be dumped. If not, then you shouldn't be surprised she went with someone else - you should simply realize that she isn't interested in you. But, then, if she is not honest enough to tell you so straight up, then she doesn't deserve anyone; much less you, so you should drop her.

But none of the vote options fit what I feel. Maybe you could add some more?

If you have an "understanding" then that argument applies, but if you're officially boyfriend & girlfriend that's implicit and being non-exclusive would certainly require special agreements.

Always thought it an odd quirk of the ex-colonies introducing us to this daft way of expressing a conversation finishing with 'man'!
