I'm not 100% sure, But to me it looks as though it could signify that the contents of that note
could or may contain a (web?) link or some kind of graphic content.

If you double click on it it will load the page that it is linked to.

Thanks for the replies. It seems that this is a shortcut to a page that I regularly check out. I probably put it, but I forgot how I got it to show in the Notes panel, though. So, how do you put a link in the Notes panel?

Drag the link to your notes.
Or highlight the link, right click copy to notes

Any time you select text from a page (and not from a form where you might have typed it) and choose Copy to Note, Opera saves both the text and the address you saved it from. If there is actually a favicon for the page, Opera will use that (I have 5 notes with website favicons on them), if there is no favicon it uses the icon you've identified to indicate the note has a link. (It used to be a globe icon, not certain when they changed it).
